Chapter 1

Naruto pulled on his shinobi headband, smiling in the mirror. He was still trying to get over not becoming a chunin.

He was startled when he heard a loud knock on the door.

"NARUTO!" he heard Sakura yell. "YOU'RE LATE!"

"Coming, Sakura-Chan!" Naruto giggled, leaving his house. Sakura punched him in the face.

"Happy birthday, brat," Sakura chuckled. Naruto's heart fluttered.

"You remember!" Naruto sang. He received a second punch in the face. Worth it.

"Happy birthday, Naruto!" Kakashi said as he and Sakura walked up to him and Sasuke.

"Kakashi Sensei... you're not late?" Sakura asked. Kakashi chuckled.

"No, actually I was excited for today. I have a little surprise!" Kakashi said, leading the three away.

A few minutes of walking later, they entered a clearing in the woods. Naruto gasped. All of the Rookie 12 were there, plus Gaara, Kankuro, and Temari! A whole party was set up, along with a cake, piñata, and RAMEN!

Naruto's eyes filled with tears. This was the nicest thing anyone's ever done for him! He sniffled, hugging Kakashi. Sakura rolled her eyes playfully as Sasuke walked over to get a glass of water.

"What's wrong Naruto? Haven't you ever had a birthday party before?" Sakura scoffed. Naruto shook his head, rubbing his eyes.

"N-no one's ever been with me on my birthday before!" Naruto cried, hugging Sakura. Sakura wanted to pull away, but she felt like Naruto needed a hug.

Iruka Sensei was at the party too. He lit the candles as everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to Naruto. Naruto was crying throughout the whole party, and had a lot of fun. Especially when he accidentally hit Sasuke in the crotch during the piñata. 

"How's it feel to be twelve?" Iruka asked. Naruto shrugged.

"Same as always!" he giggled, finishing his ramen.
