I wipe the sweat out of my forehead as I look at the setting sun.
My work here is done. I should return home before the demons arrive.

Walking in the hills alone was never something that I looked forward to, specially in the dark, you never know if demons are just there by your side, watching your next move, and then bam, the next second you're dead.
Besides that, this hill is a safe place, probably the safest of all. Demons are rarely spotted here in this area. Which is why I'm doing all the extra works, chores and all those side works. When there are demons spotted here, I'm given the mission to get rid of the demon, with a higher rank slayer.
I'm never given the mission to go somewhere, since I'm on supervision for various reasons.

I open the door, and let myself in.
"Oh! Y/n you are back!" A lady with, black eyes and red hair said.
"How was your day Y/n?" "Ah, it was normal."
This woman was my mom, Misaki Inochiba.
She is a medical slayer, she's not so skilled in combat but she is a medic and has to take care of demon slayers everyday.
"Alright go fresh up."

"I'm home!" "Oh! Kioshi!" My mom said basically running up to the door.
"Oh, Y/n you're home early today!" "Yeah dad, I came home this time since the past year."
Standing in front of me was my dad with typical blonde hair and green eyes.
My dad was also a part of the Demon Slayer Corps. He was promoted in the rank Kanoto recently. It was a rank somewhere in the middle/bottom but it was still a big accomplishment in my village.
"Y/n! I've something really AWSOME to tell you right now!" My father said with a smile and joy in his eyes. "Father you came home after 6 days straight, I think you should really rest right now." I said. "Don't worry Y/n! I'm all treated and good!" My father said with a thumb up and excitement in his voice.
"Come on! I have something really good to tell you!" He said with a proud smile again. "What is-" I was cut off by my mom. "Kioshi! Atleast come in before anything!" "Ah yes my bad haha."

"So what is it that you really want to tell me?" I said sitting down in our dining room. "Trust me you will like it!" My father said with basically stars in his eyes.
"Is it another boring job that Y/n was offered?" My mom said smiling, giving me and my father a glass and pouring juice in it.
"No, no! Wait actually yes, something like that but you will like it Y/n!"
"Say it already kioshi."
"Hm okay listen carefully!" I put off a serious face and put all my attention towards what my father was saying.
"Ya know the Shinazugawa clan?"
"Yes?"
"They want to meet you!" My father said proudly. "Huh? Why me father?" "Y/n, remember when you helped them? They want to thank you for it! They invited you to have dinner with them tomorrow! " My father said, "But the Shinazugawa's are completely unknown to me! I don't even know half of them!"
"Don't worry, the Shinazugawa's are very trusted by us! And I will escort you there, you will be just fine!" My father said getting up from his chair.
"..Will everyone be there?" "Probably, I don't know the details..."
Oh dammit..
"Well then everyone." My father sighed. "It's been a long day, I'II go rest now. Have a good night and sleep well." He said. Just like that he left.

"Mom, what do you think?" "Hm? Me? Let's see." She stopped for a while and she looked like she was deeply thinking.
"Y/n, it probably is nothing important and just a small invite to get to know you!" She said as she took the glasses and the dishes to the sink. "Aaand if you feel uncomfortable, you know just what to do! You are very independent after all."
