You and Jace sprinted through the empty forest, branches scratching at your faces and clothes. As you passed the trees, you came to a clearing that gave you a good view of the moon and you were glad because it was darker in the forest where the demons had chased you from. Walking to the middle of the forest, you drew the only weapon you had left, your Seraph blade. It shimmered in the moon's light and you couldn't help but feel uneasy even with runes you had recently conjured onto yourself.
    Hearing something rustle in the forest, you called out to Jace. "We're not alone anymore, Jace. Keep an eye out for anything."

    Just then you were joined by Isabelle and Alec. "The demons are almost here. We held off as many as we could. There are more than we thought."

    You nodded and turned back to the forest, watching it with careful eyes. As your eyes trailed over the dark trees, you saw a shimmer in them and gripped your blade even harder. Narrowing your eyes, you watched as a demon jumped out of the forest and you charged at it. When it got closer to you, it swung and you ducked, stabbing it in the back. "They're here!"

    That's when more demons flooded out of the trees and started attacking the four of you. As you cut them down, you could feel the Genki rune wearing off and you managed to hide away from the demons long enough to redraw it with your Stele.
    When you returned, you saw Jace getting pinned by three demons while Isabelle and Alec struggled with their own. Rushing towards Jace, you drew your blade and stabbed two of them before turning to the third. You turned towards the third and your eyes did something that's never happened to a Shadowhunter. They turned black completely and you charged at the demon with inhuman speed, without the rune, before slicing its head off.
    You turned to see more demons fill the clearing. Alec and Isabelle found themselves running back towards you and Jace. All you could do was think of all the possibilities to kill them but no rune could help you now and that's when you drew a new rune on your body without thinking. "I have an idea but none of you will like it. When I tell you to, split up and run back to the Institute."
"We can't leave you here. What will happen to you?" Jace asked, hating your plan. "I'm not sure just yet, mi amore. That's what we will find out and unless we figure something else out, it's our only hope."

    He nodded not wanting to agree with you and the other two looked at you as well, before giving you one last hug. Jace held you against his body the longest before getting ready to run. The signal was your call to find your falcon, Rumi. When they heard it, they took off and you ran into the crowd of demons, killing what you could until you cried out in pain.
    Jace faltered and turned around. He regretted turning around because all he saw was your body falling to the ground with your own Seraph blade sticking out of your chest. Before he could run back to you, Alec pulled him away from the scene and rushed him back to the institute. When the two of them entered the institute, Jace was fighting Alec to get back to the clearing but Isabelle helped her brother keep Jace inside. After a while of crying and fighting, Jace fell asleep due to exhaustion. Isabelle spoke to her brother in a hushed whisper. "I'm going back out there. I need to see her body for myself. If you want you can come with me or stay here with Jace but if you come, Hodge will need to make sure he doesn't hurt himself."
"I'll come with you and Hodge will watch him." Alec whispered to her.

    Just then, Hodge walked in and raised his brow as if to ask where y/n was. They quietly told him what had happened and what they were going to do. He agreed to watch Jace and let them leave.
    As they got closer to the clearing, they saw the ashes of the dead demons and grimaced. The two of them knew that a Shadowhunters dead body meant nothing to the demons and it would be left alone. What they didn't expect to see was a fire burning and two people moving ashes. They recognized one as Magnus Bane but couldn't see the other's face. "Magnus! What are you doing?"
