It was so quite.
Her eyes scanned the dull room the sun rays peeking through the flavorless blinds.
The cold metal that clasped her wrists causing her to shiver though she should've been used to it.
She listened in on the distant sound of the radio stemming from the cell across the hall.
She knew this song.
She treaded her finger through the thick and kinky waist length strands humming along to each lyric.
She could hear the muffled beat rather well through the sounds of her strained chains.
It was that one H.E.R song that talked about coffee in the mornings and umbrellas which she'd learned from Rae next door.
She barely flinched when she heard the shuffling about infront of her door.
Infact she didn't move from her bed.
Her legs remained crossed and her eyes planted on the eggshell white of the lonley walls.
Even as the knob turned and the nurse entered she didn't move.
Not one bit.
"Providence time for your snack" the middle aged woman cooed.
She didn't reply only rolling her now grey eyes at the child's treatement.
The small Asian lady waved the pack of Welch's and pudding cup like a flag infront of her with a widespread smile that didn't quite meet her eyes.
As quick as she came in the lady left the woman to eat.
Staring at the food on her table she only grabbed the Welch's tearing into them with ease.
It was a rather peaceful day for her.
She felt full of curiosity and thoughts.
Momentarily she felt like there was a something better beyond nurses, lymthium pills and her lonley white cage.
She wanted to be seen as normal not some crazy freak with color hanging eyes.
She wanted to trust people and be trusted by people.
But she couldn't no matter what she was a black skinned animal in a white man's cage.
Or at least that's what it felt like.
She knew she wasn't crazy like the world made her think.
She didn't need the pills they pushed down her throat or submerged to hide in her glasses of water.
She knew all of it .
But who was she to them?
...and
Who was she to make them listen.
She'd been told herself that she was nothing more than a carton that needed air...
