Harry's POV

Professor Moody walked to me. Moody licked the side of his mouth making a small his sound before taking out his flask and drinking from it. He shivered making a disgusted face. I squinted my eyes at him.
"Since Ms. Blackbird isn't going to share the technical last curse, I will. The Death Curse. Though it may sound similar to the killing curse, it does not kill it's victim, no. Instead it's a curse that enters the victims minds and finds it's targets through the victims loved ones. It's almost as if death himself has possessed your mind and takes the life of those you love,"
Hermione raised her hand.
"Ms. Granger." Professor Moody called.
"Sir, how can one receive or get rid of this curse?" she asked.
"Only a powerful and dark wizard can place this curse. The last wizard known to have placed it upon a victim was Gellert Grindelwald in the 1930s. His victim being a young teenage girl..."
Moody's eyes landed on me and I looked away. Before anything else could happen, the bell rang, dismissing the students.

Y/N was the first one out of the classroom. I looked to Ron who nodded and went to see if I could catch up to her but too many students were rushing out of the classroom as well. Hermione joined the two of us as well.
"As brilliant as Moody is, he's completely demented and terrifying to be in the same room with but he's really been there, you know? He's looked evil in the eye," said Ron as we walked down the long spiraled stairwell from the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.
"There's a reason those curses are unforgivable," Hermione spat as she looked back to Ron. "To perform them in a classroom. I mean, did you see Neville and Y/N's face?" Hermione questioned as I nudged her. She looked to Neville who was staring off at the window.
"Neville?" Hermione asked as she tried to get Neville's attention. Moody came down the stairs and approached Neville, patting him on the shoulder.
"Son?" said Moody. Neville looked at Professor Moody. "You all right?" he asked. Neville frowned and nodded. "Come on. We'll have a cup of tea. I want to show you something," Moody told Neville. Neville hesitated but then followed Moody. Hermione raised her eyebrows and shrugged.
"Well, I guess the secrets out," said Ron.
"About what?" I asked.
"You know why Y/N's been avoiding us all, right?" asked Ron. Hermione and I shrugged. "She thinks she's protecting us from...from..." Ron stammered.
"The death curse," said Hermione. "She has it, doesn't she?"
Ron nodded. "I'm not supposed to tell anyone. Moody practically exposed it so I guess it's okay that you two know what he means. Y/N's scared to death that the curse is going to affect us," Ron explained. "That does explain why she's so persistent that we leave her alone," Harry said.
"Probably why she was sitting with Malfoy during class," said Hermione. "She loathes him just like the rest of us do so she may think that sitting next to someone she doesn't like will keep her safe."
"Maybe. But, if you think about it. It only makes sense that she's cursed," Ron said as he got down to the bottom of the stairwell. "Her eldest brother and sister died at the same time by an attack caused by a group of students who didn't even remember the incident after it happened, then Tommy last year with a bludger that wasn't even supposed to be there, and then her parents a few weeks ago by a fire and they were dead before the fire even started," Ron explained. "And haven't you noticed she's been having her hair down a lot lately?" asked Ron.
Hermione and I both nodded. "That's because there's a mark on the back of her neck that's symbolic to the curse," Ron explained.
"But, the curse hasn't been used since the 1930s like Moody and Y/N said. So, how can she have it?" Hermione asked. "The curse passed down from her grandmother to her mother, then to her. The curse doesn't stop until it's killed everyone the victim loves and then the victim itself," Ron replied.
"That's horrible. Poor Y/N," I said, glumly as we reached the transfiguration classroom.
"Not a word about this to her. Understand?" Ron asked. Hermione and I both nodded. I saw that Y/N was sitting in the back by herself. I wanted to go sit next to her but, Ron and Hermione dragged me away.

"Today we will be learning the spell, Spongify. Firs we will practice with cauldrons before we practice on toads," McGonagall explained. "Now read Chapter 1 Section 4 of your books please."
I opened my book and started reading the section. It was boring but I needed to focus.
"--Ms. Blackbird, please get on task," McGonagall said. I turned my head back and saw that Y/N was spacing out. She must have a lot on her mind. She spaces off when there's a lot going on. "Yes, Ms. Blackbird?" came McGonagall's voice.
"May I use the loo?" she asked.
"Yes. Be quick," McGonagall said briskly. Not looking up from the book, I heard the sound of footsteps leave the classroom. I went back to reading my book.

It was near the end of class and Y/N wasn't back yet.
""Did you fall in, Ms. Blackbird?" McGonagall asked as she pointed to the back of the classroom. I turned around as did everyone else. Laughs broke out as they saw Y/N's wet hair. It almost looked like Y/N was trying not to laugh.
"Sure, Professor," Y/N said slyly before returning to her seat. I smiled to myself before returning to my reading.
