The day my world stood still

Moving Day

The date was 1973. The sun was setting just beyond the horizon.

"I can't believe it is my last day" she said "I better get home. "she said while walking home. Her family was waiting for her when she got home, she helped set the table. As she went to sit down her mom walked up to her and said,

"Happy birthday sweetie!" She said excitedly, "I can't believe your leaving tomorrow, if you ever need anything let us know we will always be there for you. "Alex nodded and sat down and started to eat as her mom walked away. After everyone ate they had cake then they watched a movie and headed to bed, but Alex stayed up for a few more hours to finish packing before she want to bed. When she finally finished packing she flopped onto her bed and started at her celling having flashbacks of the memories that she had in this room as a kid. Her and her dad had painted the ceiling together he was the only one who understood her at the time, he understood her like he was reading her mind 24/7. She sighed curled up in bed. Around 8:30 am she woke up to the smell of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage. She sat up and rubbed her eyes and looked at the time. She got ready for the day and stumbled downstairs, still half asleep.

"Good morning sleepy head!" Her mom said while not taking her eyes off what she was doing, "I see your all ready for work you excited?"

Alex nodded while she started helping her mom prepare breakfast. Alex's dad walked in and hugged her from behind.

"Dad!" She giggled while trying not to drop the knife or the grapefruit,

"What are you making?," He asked curiously,

"We are making food," she said jokingly,

"I can see that," he chuckled a bit and walked off but not before saying,

"alright I'll leave you and your mom to your work". Alex and her mom finished up what was left of making the food and started putting the food on the table. They sighed and sat down at the table looking at the food they prepared. Happy with the results they just started to eat as the doorbell rang,

"I'll get it", Alex got up and walked to the door and opened it up and before she could see who it was she got hugged,

"Sis!." Matt said with pure joy." I'm so sorry I'm late! Someone had wrecked there car and they blocked off the road, so I had to take a longer route then expected I'm so sorry," Matt set her down and as he walked backwards a beautiful woman walked into her line of sight. The woman had he hair long golden hair curled and was in beautiful red dress that fell just bellow her knees.

"She looked like a angel, Matt surely caught a keeper this time." Alex said to herself as she waited for her brother to introduce her,

" This my sister is my lovely girlfriend Beatrice"

"So nice to finally meet you," Beatrice said while walking up to Alex and shaking her hand." mat has told me a bunch about you! I just had to come along to meet you."

"Well welcome to our home! Come on in we just started eating" Alex said as she moved out of the way so the two could come in. They walk into the dining room and they see that there isn't enough chairs for all of them.

"Seems that there isn't enough chairs I shall stand no worries" Beatrice said as she grabbed a plate,

" No no I'll stand you sit in my spot you are the guest after all!" Alex said while moving,

" No you go ahead and sit, it's your house anyways!" Beatrice said

" No no I insist" Alex moved away from the chair and Beatrice looked at he then the chair then back to her Beatrice sighed,

"Fine I will sit if it makes you happy.," Alex smiled as she walked to where Beatrice was and sat on the floor and ate when everyone was set with what they had on their plate, after everyone ate Alex hear a knock on a door she went to see who it was and when she opened the door it was the movers,

"Hello we are here to get your stuff, your boss sent us,"

" Oh he didn't tell me about that I'll show you my room, right this way" Alex lead the movers to her room and her family was confused, they thought they would have come later. After they finished loading everything into the truck Alex said her goodbyes. When she got to the apartment it was bigger than she expected it looked like she walked into a luxury apartment she stopped and turned around and stuttered in utter shock. 

"I-ITS SO BIG!!" She said while feeling like a little kid, after the movers left Alex jumped on the bed and fell asleep.

She woke up to her alarm going off she got up and quickly got ready and left on the search of the building that she would be working at. She got into her car and followed the GPS. She got to the facility and they asked for I.D but she didn't have a I.D card.

"I don't have one I'm new I just started today," she said confused and sad,

"Well miss you can't pass through the gate"

"I've got the bosses number let me call him, he didn't say anything about a I.D" she reached into her bag and grabbed her phone and called the number. It rang and the Boss picked up,

"Hello?, this is Maxwell"

"Hey sir so sorry to call but, I'm at the gates and there's a guy asking for I.D and you didn't say anything about that. "Alex was calm but also confused.

" Give the phone to the person in the booth", when he said this he sounded annoyed.

"ok give me a second". Alex handed the phone to the worker.

"Hello?" The man in the booth said.

"Hello this is Maxwell, the owner of this company"

"Yes I know who you are sir!" The man in the booth said  this as if the boss was a commanding officer in the army and he was a Cadet.

"Well then if you know who I am you should know I have no problems Firing you then?" Maxwell has a annoyed tone to his voice.

"Y-yes sir! I am aware of that" the guards voice is now shaky and kind of nervous.

"Good, now that I made that clear I need you to let my new friend Alex in she has just started and doesn't have the proper I.D so I would Appreciate if you would tell all of the rest of the guards this so they don't risk getting fired" Maxwell sounded proud like he had won a medal of honor.

"Yes sir right away sir" the guard sounded relived as he handed me back the phone and Opened the gate so I could pass through.

"Thank you Maxwell" once I had said that I realized what I had said "I-I mean boss thank you boss!"

Maxwell chuckled a bit." no need to be scared you can call me Maxwell if you want to"

"Thank you Maxwell" I said confused

"I will meet you inside you get special parking find my car it should be a red and white 1970's t-bird."

"Got it I'll meet you inside sir "as I said that I hung up and started driving through the gates and started looking for Maxwell's car.
