Cassandra's POV
Cassandra was lying on her bed waiting. That was all she had done for the last decades, if not centuries. She knew the day was close, she could feel it in every part of her body. Finally she would be able to meet her mate. Her body was only 24 year old, but she had been around for a long time. And in all this years all she had done was being patience and waiting for the day she would feel her mate for the first time.
Winter was just around the corner and it was already starting to get chilly outside. Cassandra got up from her bed and walked over to the big mirror standing by her wardrobe. Her long blonde hair hung loosely around her shoulders, framing her face perfectly. Her 'mane' as her sisters liked to call it was wavy, but not in a messy way. She looked into her own brown eyes. Seeing nothing but sadness and disappointment. Her hand found her way up to her pale cheeks, brushing gently over the cold skin.
"Callie!" her mother shouted at her.
Cassandra had gotten that nickname from her family many years ago, but no one other than her parents and siblings dared to call her that. She took a deep breath before she walked over to the door. Her pack, aka her family, all lived together in a huge mansion. She loved her home because the entire family had worked on it for years. Each family had their own part of the house, but everyone living in the house shared the main living space and dining area. Her parents, Lord Ciro and Lady Amaia, were the leaders of this pack, giving Cassandra and her seven siblings high status both at home and on other lands.
She was met with her mother's kind blue eyes as she walked down the stairs. Cassandra had inherited her mother's hair colour and mind, but her brown eyes and strong body came from her father.
"Hello mother, you called for me" she smiled as she walked into her mother's outstretched arms.
They hugged each other tightly, there truly was nothing like a mother's hug she thought to herself. The hug calmed her down in ways no one else could. Her mother, Amaia, looked her over with sad eyes.
"You will find your mate soon sweetie" she told her daughter.
"I hope you are not wrong mother" Cassandra smiled.
"Am I ever" Amaia smiled at her daughter giving her one last squeeze.
"Now, dinner is ready so come on" she continued as she dragged her daughter with her in the direction of the dining hall.
The entire family sat ready in their seats, and just as Cassandra took her seat between her older brother Walerian and her younger sister Nerine the maids brought out the food. There were probably thirty people sitting by the table, and this was not even half of the pack. They were in all approximately one hundred members, and they were one of the biggest packs in the world, making them both powerful and feared.
Because her mother was a human once and her father a vampire she and her siblings could survive on both regular food and blood. However, they did need blood every now and then to keep their strength up. Cassandra liked being both a vampire. She had the more strength and speed than a regular human, plus a great mind.
