𝐈𝐍 𝐖𝐇𝐈𝐂𝐇,
the city was big and filled with
all types of people, and while she believed this
would be the best decision of her life,
she was yet to meet him.

"dress form." my aunt commanded, i pushed another dress form in her direction before she finished fetching the unfinished dress, its sides messily pinned while the other had none at all. "a little too loose, no?" she then asked, i looked up from my spot on the side table, i gave her a tiny shrug before looking back down to my phone, "i think just a little tighter by the waist," the dress really did look amazing either way, she just had a magic touch with anything that revolves fashion.
"you're still sulking over that boy aren't you?" she took a quick peek at me before doing an over the top sigh before fully turning to me, "you knew he was no good." "but i thought he would change."
"change?" my aunt frowned, "people don't change. They just put on façades until they get you wrapped around their finger once again, and that's exactly what you let him do," she was right. i went into another relationship try with pierce after he'd kept begging to restart and become a better person, and stupidly i agreed like i did those past two times he did the same.
and you'd think someone would learn, but on the contrary, i still wanted him back.
"maybe it's just me," i told her, "what if i'm not giving him what he wants?"
and even if she shook her head and gave me a million reasons why i'm wrong, my heart refuses to believe any of them. am i not giving him something and he just seeks it into other girls because of it? why go through so much effort to piece a relationship together to just shatter it for another girl you met at a bar five minutes ago?
"you shouldn't let someone get you this down [ name ], instead take it as a sign. he wasn't meant for you, nor were you for him. he was just a step you had to pass in life to get to who you're really meant for," by the end of her sentence, a smile quirked onto her lips, "like that prince charming book i used to read you," as soon as she said it a laugh bursted from me, hands cupping my face at just the memory, "that book had me asking every boy in my neighborhood if they were a prince."
she laughed with me before pinching one of my cheeks, "which just shows that you're really my niece. we have standards." she then narrowed her eyes at me and my smile slowly faded, i only nodded and she smiled even brighter, "perfect. now quick help me finish the fitting for the dress, jeanist will kill me if i came in with a design less."

KEIGO. location: park status: with target
name a food better than fried chicken. i'll wait....
nothing right? exactly, if you thought of anything else then you're obviously wrong.
and there's nothing better than starving yourself from the brink of the morning just to eat a tray full of chicken and fries during a fifteen minute break.
there's no way in hell he'll be able to eat this at that time limit and not feel sick afterwards.
"detective takami," a friendly voice behind him boomed, well, it wasn't that friendly but he just knew it was coming from a good person.
"rumi." he sighed, "i thought you were going out with the others," he looked back a little to late because by the time he did actually look at her, she had a dangerous grin on her face and her hand already slammed onto his back with a loud slap that had his whole body jerking away, "no of course not! i couldn't just leave you here alone. what kind of partner would that make me?" she continued to pat his back making him have to physically suppress any pained winces that threatened to climb up his throat, "i wouldn't have—"finally stopping her assault to his back and now just placing a harsh grip on my shoulder, "—minded,"
she plopped on the seat beside him, "well it's too late now! what did you have to eat?" she peered, "chicken."
she narrowed her eyes on him, her lips forming an expression of disgust before she slowly turned her vision away from him, "don't you get tired of chicken each day?" it didn't even take a second for keigo to already be shaking his head, "absolutely not."
"got anything healthier then?" she then asked but the man just kept on munchin'. honestly, he loved his partner but sometimes he felt she was way too...clingy.
"why didn't you just bring your own lunch?" she at his question shrugged, "i did. but i think someone actually took it. oh, well."
sometimes he wonders if there was a time rumi would ever be upset over something and actually lashed out about it. she always seemed so calm about everything. it was admirable, he wouldn't be able to react the same if his lunch was stolen.
there was a moment of silence before two women rushed past them, and not long after one of them tripped, knocking all the case files down all over the park's floor.
the women cursed a few profanities as she knelt down to pick up the stacks of paper but her rushed movements on the parks streets only made her papers fly out again.
like the good person he was, he stood up to help her, after of course debating if he should leave his food for this or not. rumi on the other hand just watched, strangely not even attempting to move.
"need any help?" he asked, seeing the scrambling girl knelt before him suddenly stop to look up at him. then the smile on his lips quivered, for a moment he felt dazed.
"oh," she then gave a weak smile, "if you can or want...," she then looked at his badge, before continuing with her stack.
keigo, still confused with what had happened, just cleared his throat and bent down to help, "must be something important for so many papers," he murmured, not really expecting for her to listen but she did, responding with a breathy chuckle, "they're designs." she said before clarifying "i'm a designer....in training, you could say." she quickly explained, reaching out to the final sketch on the floor not noticing how his hand reached in the same direction.
there was a quick burst of heat with the single graze that had her pulling away too quickly for it to be normal, he only smiled before lifting the sketch to look, "you made these?" the shock in his voice made her smile, her cheeks blooming with a tinge of embarrassment, "with some help..."
he took another long look, his eyes squinting to the corner of the page before he handed it back, "you got some real talent. you heading to jeanist?" she nodded and then paused with a long blink, "wait how'd you—"
"[ NAME ] WE'RE GONNA BE LATE." the other women yelled, much older than her partner so it had to be her mentor, he thought. but he wasn't gonna take more of her time, "good luck." he then smiled before stepping away from her and back to rumi, who just smiled mischievously at him.
