I am now standing in front of a modern- built mansion, having its beauty in concrete. It is clean, straight and white. The reason of my presence wasn’t as if I would like to be here at all. If only I have a choice, I would not be standing here as of the moment, waiting for the huge gate to open and let myself enter the lion’s den, the Alvarez’s mansion.
As the gate opened, there’s a middle-aged woman who greeted me with wide smiles and fresh aura. She then let me follow her inside of the mansion. I can’t totally explain the exterior and interior details of the house, or should I say, mansion? In front me.
This is super huge!
A front door that could accommodate a family of giraffes. Polished wood floors and a graceful banister that curved up toward a soaring second floor gallery. Two tall windows allowed sunlight to flood the room, flanked a grey fabric sofa, burgundy throw. The exterior of the modern house leans into the light, as if it seeks the warmth, as if it soaks that golden energy into its very walls.
“Good morning, Miss Fuentes.”
She was holding a tray with a glass of water, a white bowl full of porridge and a piece of tablet inside of a small sealed plastic.
She knew my name?
“G- good morning po,” I hesitantly greeted back, gripping the folder of reports in my hand.
“Si Stanley po? I have something important to talk with him sana.”
She smiled at me, radiating a warmth welcome.
“Pwede bang makisuyo? May importante kasi akong niluluto kaya kailangan kong bumalik kaagad sa kusina,” she politely asked, totally ignoring what I have just said.
What am I supposed to do with this?!
“Ah, ate?
Gusto kong magdabog. I was not even here to do this task! I am here to finalize our report! What the hell did I got into?
If he’s sick, then, he should at least tell me para hindi ako nagmukhang tanga kahihintay!
