Mia

It's race week in Austria and I can't lie I've been nervous, Red Bull Ring full of fans who aren't happy about me taking Max. I shake my head as I wander through the paddock gates scanning my pass "so I've got to do a space hopper race later" Daniel tells me and I look at him confused "sorry?" He grins "yeah it's for Sky sports and it will be against Lando, your guys are doing it too" I can't help but laugh at the image "well that's something I need to see" I tell him with a nudge "I will win!" He announces loudly drawing attention from everyone who's around. "Are you in a press conference today?" He checks and I nod "with Andreas and Toto, they've gone easy on me" I joke and he grins "they are alright! I'm with Charles, Seb, Pierre and Nicky" he tells me and it's not a bad group "sounds like we both might have an alright day" he grins "oh wait, I forgot to give you this" he tells me swinging his backpack off his shoulders and rummaging around. I triumphantly pulls out a packet of my favourite chocolates, Cadbury buttons "where did you get these?" I ask "I got Lando to get you some!" Sometimes he really throws me off with how thoughtful he is "thank you" I tell him with a quick kiss to his cheek "it's alright! Catch you later?" He ask and I nod "wouldn't miss your big race!" He laughs before wrapping me up in his arms "can't wait to have you all to myself later" he winks at me as he pulls away and jogs over to the McLaren garage.

I am the first to arrive at the press conference and I take a seat in the middle as instructed. After a couple of minutes my colleagues arrive "sorry we kept you waiting" Andreas apologises "no problem! Good to see you" I say and he gives me a smile "you too Mia" I turn my head and see Toto "hey there!" He greets and I give him a grin in return. It doesn't take long before we get started and it's a good informative but light hearted conference which was a really great way to kick off the weekend. I stretch my arms up once the interviewer announces that we are finished for the day and Toto laughs "Daniel excited about his big race later?" He asks me "do you even have to ask?" I joke and he smiles "I'm sure it will be a laugh at least! Not something Lewis and George would go for" he tells me and I can't see Hamilton on a space hopper "Charles and Carlos are doing it too, I'm going to get plenty of pictures to use later to embarrass them if necessary" I tell him as we wander out of the conference centre "I'm sure you will, have you and Charles been getting along okay?" He asks and I know it's coming from a good place, I have been talking with Toto a lot recently. "Yeah, Daniel is starting to rub off on me with his easygoing nature" Toto smiles "Let me know if you have any trouble this weekend from the Red Bull fans and I will have a word with Horner" I knew my worries were valid but it felt more real hearing them from Toto too "I will, thanks Toto" I place a hand on his arm and he gives me a soft look that I haven't seen from him before.

Daniel

I jog out towards Lando who is waiting with the Sky presenters. "Alright?" I ask him and he grins tilting his head subtly to the left and my eyes immediately lock with Mia's and I grin at her and she gives me a smile back but I can tell that something isn't quite right. I focus back in when I hear Crofty saying my name "right we want a fair, clean race" he warns us both and I know with how competitive we both are that nothing is getting left on the table. I climb onto my hopper seeing Toto walk over to Mia with a small smirk on his face. Lando settles next to me "get ready, go" Crofty shouts and we are both off. Jeez this is much more difficult than I imagined. My legs are already killing me. Lando falls off of his hopper and I see him in the distance running so I jump up and attempt to swing my hopper so that he can't run but I accidentally smack him straight in the face. My stomach drops although I can't stop laughing and I run over to him to check that he is okay but he is just repeating "that was my face" and I can't help but laugh. We calm down a bit and Lando starts talking "He's okay" I tell everyone with a slight laugh to try to cover for how bad I'm feeling right now.

Once we have finished with the Sky team I walk over to Mia who is stood chatting with Toto "Hey" I say softly and I immediately get her attention "that was the funniest thing I've watched for a long time!" She tells me with a laugh "I didn't mean to hit him in the face though" I say seeing a disappointed look on Toto's face "it was comedy gold" he tells us both and I know he is trying to be nice but I also know he has eyes for my girl. Before I can say anything I feel a pair of arms wrapping around my waist and I couldn't be more confused as I'm looking at Mia so it wouldn't be her. I freeze in place til the person let's go and appears in my line of sight. "Daniel! I'm so glad I found you!" My heart stops as Sara places a hand on my chest, I lock eyes with Mia who shakes her head waiting for my reaction "Sara! What are you doing here?" I ask her feeling more confused by the second "you asked me to join you at the British GP remember?" My mind races through to when I last saw her a year ago "that was 12 months ago Sara and we haven't spoken since" she laughs lightly "well I knew we would find our way back to each other" I grimace knowing that Mia is hearing all of this "I'm sorry but that's not what this is" I tell her and she laughs again "don't be silly! You weren't saying that when we were in bed together" I see Mia turn on her heel with Toto running after her and I know I've fucked up. I haven't even glanced at another woman since I've only had eyes for Mia, this is my worst nightmare. I brush Sara off and run after my girl.

Mia

Stupid! How could I be so foolish! Of course he was going to hurt me they all do! I feel a hand on my arm and I turn ready to shout at Daniel but it's Toto "I don't think it's what it looked like" he tells me and I don't know what to think or what to believe right now. I can't hold back my tears and I follow Toto into Mercedes. "He looked genuinely shocked to see her here, not like he planned it!" He tries to calm me down but my mind is just thinking back to Charles and how easy it was to lie to me for months. I shake my head. Daniel isn't Charles. My phone starts ringing and I see it's Daniel. I'm about to hang up but I hover over the button "at least hear him out" Toto encourages and I accept the call "Mia! We need to talk about this, I haven't spoken to Sara since last year, since before you, before us. You have to believe me, you're all I've ever wanted" Daniel rushes out "meet me at Mclaren" I tell him and hang up the phone before putting my bag back on my shoulder "thanks Toto for looking out for me. I would be lost without you" I tell him giving him a gentle kiss on the cheek "anything, anytime for you Mia" I walk out of Mercedes with my thoughts all over the place but he told me he hasn't seen her and I really want to believe him.

I see him outside McLaren pacing back and forth and it's then that I can tell he cares. "Daniel" I shout and his eyes immediately snap to mine and I can see the anxiety in them, he isn't my usual happy go lucky man at this moment. He is immediately in front of me "I'm so sorry" he tells me and I just wrap him in my arms "it's okay, I believe you" I tell him and he lets out a breath I don't think even he realised that he was holding. I don't want to fight about this "shall we go?" I ask knowing how late it currently is and I feel him nod into my shoulder "I'm such an idiot" he mutters as he takes my hand in his "sometimes" I joke and he sticks his tongue out at me and all feels right again.
