Authors Note: The name 'Albert' is just used to represent you, the reader. Additionally the name 'Riko' is the actual name of 'Erwin' in the show. As such I've used 'Riko' when characters in universe are referring to her and 'Erwin' when referring to her for story purposes. This is done as most people will know her better as 'Erwin' but I wanted to use her real name in the story as well.
"Check"
"Good move. A Very good move..."
"Finally school is over for another week eh Caesar?"
"You got that right Oryou, time to relax"
"Those two still at it Saemonza?"
"Check"
"Yep, been at it since before I got here"
"Well you know the drill, once they start something they see it through to the end"
"Of course, best leave them to it..."
"Remember to lock the door when you leave guys!"
"I'm sure they'll remember Saemonza, now lets get out of here before it gets too cold outside. You coming Oryou?"
"Yeah just let me get my coat"
"Hah Check ma- Holy crap!"
"What is it Albert?"
"Turn around and look out the window", he replied.
"Ah... I see what you mean now", Erwin responded with a smile
"Hahaha, looks like we've been playing for longer than we thought. Better pack this away"
"Yeah good idea. Well played by the way, really kept me on my toes"
"You played well too Riko, I'd say it was anyone's game up until the end", Albert responded as he picked up the board on the table and carried it over to a small cupboard near the door.
"Here you go, all the pieces are there", Erwin said as she handed him a small bag.
"Cheers"
"Wow, it is later than we thought", Erwin muttered as she looked down at her phone before holding it up towards Albert.
"Yeah it is, I guess time flies when you're having fun"
"Apparently", Erwin responded with a giggle.
"Well I guess we better head out, I'll take the key and give it back to Saemonza tomorrow. You know how she gets", Albert said with a chuckle as the pair exited the club room.
"Well she was the one to get us the use of the room for the club so I guess she just feels responsible to making sure we get to keep using it"
"Yeah I suppose that makes sense", Albert replied as the pair rounded a corridor before heading out of the school towards the street.
As they reached the street Erwin took in a deep breath and exhaled into her hands.
"Chilly isn't it?", she asked
"Yeah a little bit", Albert replied. Erwin looking up and down at him like he was crazy in his very thin jacket.
"Something wrong?", Albert asked with a chuckle as he turned towards her.
"You really are lucky to not feel the cold that much you know that?"
"I guess so", he replied before looking up into the sky at the stars and moon.
"You know it's late but not that late, would you like to go out and get some dinner before we head home?"
Erwin was slightly taken aback by his request and felt her face heat up slightly for a moment before a smile formed on her face.
"Sure, I'd love to"
"Great, shall we?", Albert asked as he gestured down the street to their right.
"This food is really good"
"Yeah that's why I come here often", Albert responded before taking a few bites of his own food.
"So how's the fish?", Erwin then asked as she glanced over at his plate.
"Really good, would you like to try some?", Albert asked.
"Ah... Sure", Erwin responded tentatively before using her for to a take a small part off the fish on his plate and slowly eating it.
"Good?", Albert asked as he had a bit more himself.
"Mhmm", Erwin replied as her mouth was full which caused her to blush slightly as Albert chuckled for a moment.
"Would you like to try some of my steak?", Erwin then asked to Albert's surprise.
"Sure", He replied as he picked up a piece and tried it.
"Is it nice?"
"Mhmm", Albert responded with more laughter as he tried not to choke on the food.
"Very funny", Erwin responded with a giggle before lightly punching his shoulder.
"I sure thought so", he responded. Still laughing as he took a drink of water to clear his throat.
"Well that really made this Friday a very good one I'd say", Albert said as he and Erwin stood in front of her apartment building.
"Beating me in the chess game or dinner?", Erwin asked, slightly narrowing her eyes as Albert opened his mouth to respond.
"Both", Albert responded in a jovial tone.
"You-", Erwin called out before lightly punching forward towards his shoulder again. However this time he stepped back slightly and her swing missed.
Albert chuckled for a moment before he noticed that Erwin had lost her balance on the icy ground and falling towards him.
Quickly he reached out and caught her, holding her close for a moment before helping her back onto her feet.
"That was your fault...", She muttered under her breath as she looked down at her shoes.
"Of course it was, I'll take full responsibility", Albert responded as he slowly let her go.
Erwin let out a sigh before looking up at him with a smile, "I really had a good time tonight, thank you"
The change in her tone and facial expression to a more serious one made Albert give pause before he responded.
"You're welcome Riko, I hope we can do it again sometime"
The pair then began to stare intently into each other's eyes and slightly leaned in towards each other. Getting within one step apart before suddenly the loud noise of a truck passing by caused them both to step back from each other awkwardly.
"I-I hope you have a good night Riko", Albert responded with an uncharacteristic stutter as his hands fidgeted in front of him.
"You too", she responded as the pair shared a final smile before heading their separate ways.
Erwin into her apartment and Albert on his way to his own a block away.
As he walked Albert raised his hands to his face and felt heat all over it, realizing just how flustered he'd become.
"That was certainly exhilarating", he said with a chuckle to himself as walked.
