Part 29: Welcome Home, Will!

Back in Hawkins, Will had no clue that his friends were setting up a welcome home party for him, it was Mike's idea. Everyone had helped though. The party was for everyone but Mike only cared if Will liked it. They'd set it up at the Byers house, Joyce and Hopper were in on it as well. Eddie was trying to hand up a banner they all had made that welcomed them home. "Dude don't fall." Eddie rolled his eyes. "I'll be fine Stevie." He smiled as he hung the banner. Nancy and Robin had prepared snacks and were in the kitchen getting tableware set. Mike was staring out the window waiting for the car to pull up.

Once the Byers were close to Hawkins, they stopped for "gas". Joyce went into the gas station and used their phone. "Nancy? Oh good you're there. We're about fifteen minutes out, are you all ready?" "Yep! Mike has literally been staring out the widow for twenty minutes." Joyce smiled, "Well we'll be there soon. See ya Nancy." Joyce hung up and walked back to the car. "We ready, hun." Hopper nodded. "We're set." They both go back into the car. "Mom, are we close now?" Will asked smiling. "We're very close now, won't be long sweetie. " Joyce replied looking back at him and giving him a smile. "I can't wait to see Max." El looked at Will smiling. "Yeah I know I can't wait to see everyone." Will gave her a soft smile, she leaned over. "Oh shut up, you just want to see Mike." Will's face got hot. "W-Well not just him!" She rolled her eyes. "Will I'm not stupid, or blind! I know you like him. And I don't care. I thought I did at first, but Will you love him. And you know him better then I ever did." She smiled, Will was her brother. She would always see him as her brother. Same with Jonathan. A stupid boy that she really didn't care about romantically anymore wasn't gonna ruin that. "I-...Thank you. Really." He reached over and grabbed her hand. "You're a great sister El. I love you." He smiled. "You're a great brother Will. And I love you too stupid." She squeezed his hand. They didn't realize but Hopper and Joyce had watched the last bit of they're conversation. They smiled looking at each other, proud of the kids they'd raised.

Mike was still staring out the window when Nancy came in. "Everyone one get in place! They should be here any minute!" Mike quickly flipped the lights out and hid in his spot. They were going to surprise them when they walked in. They heard a car pull up and they all got quiet. Joyce had sent the kids to the door first, since she was in on it. Will and El stood next to each other, Jonathan behind them and Hopper and Joyce were behind him. Will stuck the key in the door and turned it. He pushed the door open and flicked the light on with everyone jumped out. "SURPRISE!" Will and El were met with the faces of all their friends. And best of all, Mike was right there. He quickly grabbed Will and brung him into a hug. "Welcome home Will!" Mike smiled and he pulled back and looked at him. Then Mike turned to Eleven. "Welcome home, El." He was avoiding looking at her, she rolled her eyes. "Oh my god don't be so awkward!" She gave him a quick hug. "It's good to see you, now where Max?" She said with a smile, Mike smiled back. "Kitchen probably." El nodded and walked off. Nancy walked over and hugged Jonathan. "Welcome back!" He smiled and they walked outside together. Hopper and Joyce stepped inside. "Go enjoy your party kid." Hopper smiled looked at Will. Will smiled back and turned to Mike. "This is so cool thank you guys! Who's idea was this?" Will asked with a smile. Mike felt his cheeks get hot and he rubbed his arm. "W-Well actually it was mine." He smiled. "Oh my god Mike!" Will punched his arm playfully. "You didn't have to do this!" Mike rolled his eyes before grabbing his hand. "I definitely did, now come one let's have fun!" And with that Mike drug him outside.
