((I am rewriting this story, and this will be the prologue to the rewrite. I will be deleting the contents of the older versions, and replacing them, this is just the first, since i forgot a prologue before. This can still be edited if needs be. I decided I need to redo everything, so uh... Yeah.))

The wind whistled quietly through the maze of trees. Noises from the surrounding fauna also echoed throughout the forest.

Though, it was all background noise to footsteps, from two people in particular.

A little boy and a woman, both hand in hand, as they walked through the woods. They walked for, what seemed a long time, before the woman finally stopped and sat besides a tree, guiding the child to follow suit.

"Aren't we really far away from the others?" Asked the child, looking up at the elder, obviously confused. The woman sighed, though nodded with a small amused smile. "Yes, we are. This was for a reason, my son."

The boy rose an eyebrow, and the mother let out a breath. "You see.. I have heard things from the chiefs, and the others. They have said new people coming in large vessels, things that... Are just outstanding, and I have not even seen one yet!" She exclaimed, though her excitement quickly fell.

"These people... They are coming in large numbers, some are friendly and peaceful, the majority, however... Aren't too nice." The boy tilted his head in curiosity, while the mother continued.

"They... Have been stealing our things, forcing us out of our homes, and away from our lands, and... Are also doing massive killings, directly and not. Our people are becoming very ill for.. Unknown reasons, and when you search around only for a little time, you notice they have items gifted from these.. Foreigners.."

"That's- That's horrible!!" The child butted in. "How could they do that?! We haven't done anything to them! Why are they doing this??" The woman sighed, taking a short moment to think. "Indeed, it's horrible, and... To say I have an answer would be false. I don't know why they are doing all of this, but..." With a sigh, the woman continues. "I have heard some things from others, saying that these foreigners all say the same things— we are monsters. Savage, bloodthirsty, ruthless monsters."

The boy was silenced by those last few words, as he took some time to let all that sink in. 'They were... monsters...?'

"Why...? Why are we..? Are we, mama?" He asked, his eyes welling with tears as his thoughts spiraled. The woman immediately shook her head, embracing the boy in an attempt to soothe his loud mind. "No no, of course we aren't. Don't think such things, we aren't what they say we are, I promise you." She said, soon enough feeling the boy nod, although he still seemed distressed.

She sighed softly, running her hand through his hair. "As wrong as it is, they still do believe it.. For some reason. I wanted to tell you this, as... It is a big deal right now.. These people are.. So different from us, and pose such a threat, I... I felt the need to inform you." She explained softly, as the boy looked up at her, rubbing his eyes to clear his vision. "O-okay... But... what's going to happen? W-what... Are they going to do... to us...?"

The woman opened her mouth to respond, though remained silent; the words not coming out like she had anticipated. 'What were they there for? Have they somehow angered the Great Spirits..?' The boy took her silence... not very well.

"They're already killing a lot, like you said, so... Do they want to kill everyone?? Why???" The boy panicked, paling slightly in the realization. "We're all going to die.. But why?! What have we done??! We haven't done anything to them!!" He cried, clinging onto the woman more.
