First Encounters

Crystal sighed as she entered the kitchen the next morning, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. Her brother was already at the table, wearing jeans and a grey t-shirt, enjoying the breakfast that their mother had made for them. Crystal joined him at the table, accepting the plate that their mother handed her. Their mother joined them a few minutes later with her own plate.

"Are you guys nervous for your first day at school?" she asked them, causing them to pause in eating.

Crystal shrugged her shoulders. "Kinda, but we'll be fine."

Her brother nodded his head in agreement. "Yeah. We've got this, Mom. Don't worry."

Their mother smiled at him. "Ash, it's my job to worry. Now you two need to hurry up if you don't want to be late."

Crystal and Ash shared a look before finishing their breakfast and going into their respective bathrooms to finish getting ready. Once she had finished brushing her hair and teeth, Crystal made her way back out into the kitchen and into the living room while pulling her long wavy hair up into its usual ponytail.

She slipped on the Black Studded Lace Up Combat Boots that her father had gotten her for her fifteenth birthday. Crystal smiled as she looked at them, remembering how excited she had been when she first got them. She was brought out of her thoughts by the sound of her brother jumping down the last few steps of the carpeted stairs.

"You ready to go?" Ash asked her, grabbing the black leather hoodie that their father had given him for his birthday two years ago and slipping it on before grabbing his backpack.

Crystal nodded her head, grabbing her faded blue jean jacket, and following him out the door into the garage where his dark blue dirt bike with yellow rims was waiting for them. Ash grabbed their forest green helmets, tossing Crystal hers. Ash's had a blue wave going over the top while Crystal's had golden arrows on either side.

As Ash got the bike started, Crystal slipped on her jacket and her backpack before climbing on the bike behind Ash. They put their helmets on, the headsets in them allowing the siblings to hear each other.

"You ready?" Ash asked, turning his head slightly as she grabbed onto his backpack.

"As ready as I'll ever be," Crystal responded.

"We'll be fine, Crystal," Ash reassured her as they exited the garage and drove down the driveway towards Beacon Hills High. "Besides, this is just like any other school, in any other town. There's nothing to worry about."

"Yeah... but it's still a new school," Crystal said as Ash turned onto the road.

"That may be true, but like we told Mom, we'll be fine. Besides, it's just a school. What's the worst that could possibly happen there?"

As they entered the school parking lot, Crystal took in Beacon Hills High. It was bigger than she had thought it would be and was surrounded by woods. She sighed as she continued to compare Beacon with her old high school back in New York.

Ash pulled into a parking space, shutting his bike off. He let Crystal get off first, before getting off himself. They took off their helmets and began making their way towards the front doors of the school.

They paused on the sidewalk when they heard the sound of screeching tires and turned back around to see a silver Porsche sitting just behind where Ash's bike was. Crystal arched an eyebrow as the Porsche pulled back, then turned and pulled into the parking space right beside the bike.

She glanced at Ash to see his bright blue eyes, so like their Dad's, watching the Porsche carefully. Crystal looked back at the Porsche as the driver got out, pushing the door open wide enough to hit a brown t-shirt-wearing teen who had been hooking his bike up to the bike rack. The black haired teen turned to look at the brown haired, black leather jacket-wearing driver of the Porsche, who glared as he got out of his car.
