"we need to talk, mikasa."
a tone that is partly uncertain, partly firm, punctuates the cool air of an empty hallway. the words are unwelcome to mikasa.
her brows furrow as she scowls. "what do you want?"
"geez, bad mood much?"
eren holds out an arm, his body blocking mikasa from exiting the clubroom and following everyone else out.
mikasa growls. just her luck - out of everyone in the club, it had to be eren who noticed (y/n) slip out of the room.
eren was mikasa's oldest friend. though their relationship resembled that of siblings more than friends. eren's parents were quick to take her in when her's died in an accident years ago. she was never legally adopted. she had her own home and job now, but she considered eren's family as her own.
though eren was just as annoying to mikasa as a little brother would be to anyone else.
"you and (y/n). i want to know the full story." his voice is determined.
so annoying.
mikasa sighs. "there is no story..." she mumbles. bitterness creeps into her voice as she thinks of the girl. "at least according to (y/n)."
eren runs a hand down his face. it was a habit he had picked up from his father. he only did it when he was stressed. why was he stressed? "god, mikasa. i can tell when something's on your mind, y'know?"
something about that comment ticks her off. he always acted like he knows everything. "and what makes you think i want to talk about it?" she demands.
"well, i dunno..." eren glances around before looking back at her like he is revealing an important secret. mikasa can only think about how stupid he looks. "i know she's the girl you constantly talk about."
"how do you know? what do you know?"
eren rolls his eyes. "you sort of just, well..."
"i well?"
"you get that look in your eyes."
look in her eyes? did mikasa have a glimpse of what she thinks while looking at (y/n) in her eyes? a slow blush creeps up her neck.
it wasn't that obvious, was it?
"look in my eyes?" mikasa scoffs, "that's what this is about?" mikasa hopes she sounds calmer than she feels.
mikasa shakes her head. "she's just a random girl i asked to come here. nothing else. nothing more."
what she says is definitely not true. she almost hits herself for calling (y/n) a 'random girl.'
(y/n) was so much more than that.
mikasa looks away.
"look at me, mikasa."
