It turned out, that the room Eddie had chosen to be hellfire's basecamp was surprisingly cozy. There was the table and the chairs in the middle, but towards the back of the room, there was this old couch, probably something that had been in a teacher's lounge years before, and people had brought this down here when they'd changed the couch.

Maybe that's why Ann fell asleep almost the moment she got settled on it after everyone had started playing. Old couches were always weirdly comfortable.

"Hey, we're all done." Somebody said to her, gently shaking her awake. "Come on, sleepyhead, we gotta bring dusty here home."

Ann frowned as she sat straighter, and something fell from her shoulders. She blinked a couple of times before pulling Eddie's leather and jean jacket combo off herself.

Eddie had Ann's backpack in one hand and made the club keys dangle and chime in the other.

"How long have I been out," she said, still dazed from the nap she'd just woken up from. "I was going to study; you should have woken me up, Ed."

Eddie snaked his arm over her shoulders and pulled her closer to him as he navigated them through the room, locking the door behind them. Dustin was waiting against the wall and smiled when he saw the two, "you know you two are the least functional couple I've ever seen. If Eddie didn't look so smitten with you, Ann, I would have thought for sure this was all a joke."

Ann and Eddie stilled, looking at each other

"Smitten, you say?" Ann repeated a portion of the freshman's words, "What can I say? I have a thing for unusual guys."

Dusting laughed loudly, the sound resonating in the empty, dark hallway. "You should have seen him grabbing the books off your lap and ditching his jackets so he could drape them over you." He said, hands hooked on his backpack straps. "He's gone, I'm telling you."

Eddie gently removed his arm from Ann and ran to the younger boy, removing his cap and messing with his hair, holding him in a gentle headlock. "Henderson, you should shut your mouth before I decide to sew it shut, kiddo." He said, grinning in a slightly nervous way. If Ann hadn't been looking at Eddie's face, she would have missed the way his eyes flickered over to her ever so slightly.

The trio walked to Eddie's van and headed to Dustin's house. Dustin was someone Ann came to like surprisingly quickly; he was kind and funny and sweet, and she thought he was kind of like the little brother she'd always wanted. By the time they reached the boy's house, Ann's cheeks were hurting from all the laughing and the smiling that came with hanging out with the boy.

"So, tell me, were we that boring?" said Eddie as he drove towards Loch Nora, a smile threatening to make its way onto his face.

Ann hid her face with her hands and groaned, "I don't know what happened; I swear I wasn't tired when I left class, and you came to get me!"

He hummed and looked at her "maybe you haven't been sleeping well, then?"

"I mean, I think that's probably it. My dad has been a lot, and being around him when he's there can be exhausting." Ann answered him. "I've been stressed, I suppose."

He entered her neighborhood slowly and held out his hand for Ann to grab. Slowly putting her palm into his, Eddie didn't waste a second to interlock their fingers, silently showing her he was there if she needed him.

"Well, I'm glad you got some good sleep in." he said, checking his watch, "It's really late. Go to bed once you're inside and shit."

Squeezing her hand one last time before he let go, Eddie put the car in park and opened his door, coming around Ann's side to open hers. "Also, I'll tell you in detail tomorrow, but Chrissy Cunningham asked me to sell her some drugs."

Ann's eyebrows raised before she sighed. "I think she's going through some bad shit right now at home. I'll try to talk to her just to catch up and let her vent."

"Do you want me to tell you when we meet so you can catch her afterward, maybe?" he asked as she put her feet on the ground.

"Yeah, that would be nice of you." She replied, smiling up at him

In the moonlight, Eddie Munson looked surprisingly sweet. The light caught in his eyes, and he looked serene, not having to worry about holding up the façade he maintained a lot of the time out in public.

She didn't even have time to realize what she was doing before she rose to the top of her toes and put a hand on Eddie's arm, making him bend down slightly, kissing him gently in the moonlight.

Instantly, he closed his eyes and reciprocated the kiss, putting his hand on the small of her back, steadying her. For a couple of minutes, that's how the two stayed. Kissing in the moonlight in front of Ann's house.

She didn't even know if any of her parents were watching, but she didn't care. Somewhere along the time, they'd been "together," the lines between real and fake had started blurring in Ann's mind, and unsurprisingly, she'd started forgetting this was fake sometimes.

When they parted ways, the top of Eddie's ears was flaming red, and Ann was visibly blushing. This kiss had felt different. Real.

There's silence before Eddie clears his throat and speaks up, "Um, I'll see you tomorrow?"

Ann laughs awkwardly, "yeah, yeah, I'll catch you uh tomorrow, at school. Yeah"
