No matter where she would look, there is fire. The blazing heat was almost too much for her. It's not like that mattered anyways, she had her sword at her waist and a secondary one on her back. She had a job to do, and even though it may be the end of the world, she must complete it. She could hear screams and cries. All the fading heartbeats. And yet, she chose to push forward. Complete it at all costs, be something useful even at the end of the world.
She reached the cliff where the final battle would take place. She was finally ready. No thoughts in her head, just how to fight. Fight for her last breaths in this burning world. The female grabbed her sword from her hip and pointed it at the male in front of her. An unwavering expression on her face.
"Where is my friend?.. The one I've known since I was only just a kid."
"I think it's time to say goodbye.."
Although it had started to rain, the fires continued to burn strong. Not running out anytime soon. Only getting the rest of those alive wet before their final moments. She could hear all the people saying their final goodbyes, their apologies and things they wish they said sooner. She had to block it out again.
No more words were exchanged between the two old friends. Just silence, the sound of rain and the fires burning. Words couldn't describe how much this hurt for the two. It didn't matter. They had their jobs to do. And without further hesitation the female rushed towards the male. Sword in hand. The boy only blocked her first attack with his own weapon of choice. He didn't recognize her anymore, her white hair had blood stained tips that reached to her ankles. Her once blue eyes were now a crimson red, she had abnormally large black feathery wings protruding from her back. Strange black markings covered her right arm up to her right eyebrow.
It was almost as if she had been consumed by the very thing the boy feared she would. And yet he still saw a glimpse of her old self even while fighting to the death. Her speed in attacks had picked up. It had gotten hard to block or dodge her cuts.
The sounds of the weapons clashing grew louder. The once fast paced battle seemed to slow down as the male got fatigued. The rapid cuts and hits from the once innocent girl took a toll on him. He had fallen to his knees. Covered in his own blood, tears started to pool up in his eyes as he looked at the female.
She wasn't in any much better state. Her wings were torn, cuts and gashes littered her body, blood dripped off her sword much like how the blood dripped from her body and hair. A frown adorned her face. Slowly the girl dropped to her knees, tears of her own filling up her eyesight. Her sword never dropped or fell from her grasp, she pointed the tip of the blade at the boy's chin. Forcing him to look up at her slightly, the tears now falling down both their faces. Taking a deep breath the female spoke
"It's time to say goodbye my dear friend. I once loved you, I hope you knew that.."
And with that she did one final diagonal slash at the boy. Cutting at his neck, the blood dripped from her sword as she fully fell to the ground. Slightly before the head of the boy she once loved.
Wrapping herself in her torn and cut black wings she felt herself shake and start to cry. The cuts on her body are now taking effect. The adrenaline that once fueled her is now wearing off. She could hear all the screams, cries and pleas once again. The fire now warping around, setting everything ablaze still.
Taking her final breaths as everything began to get heavy and dark. The fear she was once ignoring, now creeping back to haunt her. And yet in her final moments all she could manage to was cry and mutter a few words.
"Goodbye, you piece of shit world"
