Chapter 15: Missing

I can't stop scratching my head with everything that's going on. First, we have to find all the families that ran from Marcus' former pack, then we need to find Damon's son and make sure no one is a threat to Lyca's safety, and now, Lyca cannot go home and is stuck here in Clearwater.

I am by no means against Lyca and Aries getting together. I am just scared for my sister. I know Aries will not hurt her and I trust him with my sister's life.

But the fact that he still has not found the solution to the bigger problem at hand is what makes me uneasy. If he has not found the solution before Lyca turns 18, he will just end up hurting her even more.

I know Aries has been in love with my sister longer than my sister had feelings for him. Even before he found out that they are mates, he already had formed a special bond with Lyca, but he knew he can't be with her because he might just end up hurting her, or worse, kill her.

Aries never made his feelings known to Lyca, knowing for a fact that Lyca has a mate out there, to whom she is fated to. He was fine standing on the side-line, watching Lyca, making sure she is safe and covered.

When Eden did not come around when she turned 13, Aries was one of the people who constantly reminded her that she's not weak and even spent extra effort in training Lyca because she was so determined to get stronger.

Lyca will always be within his earshot, ready to attend to her when she encounters any problem. But things changed when Lyca fell in love with him because of all of this.

Aries tried distancing himself from Lyca, hoping it will make her forget him, but it didn't work. Our families are tied together even before we were born and avoiding her is nearly impossible. It also didn't help that Lyca became bolder about her feelings towards him. Though she never made a move on him, as far I know, of course, she was never ashamed of it.

We all thought before that if Lyca will not forget her feelings for Aries, she will either reject her mate because her heart belongs to someone else, or she will accept her mate, even if it meant leaving the one she truly loves, which is surely heart-breaking.

He couldn't mistreat Lyca. Being cold to her was the worst he could have ever done, and Lyca knew it was just his nature.

But things took another turn when he turned 18 and learned that Lyca is his mate. He was the very first person to confirm Lyca has a wolf because he could feel it.

He knew he's doomed, and the only way to keep him from hurting Lyca in the near future is for her to reject him, for he knows he can never reject Lyca. And he figured avoiding her will never work.

That is why he started entertaining girls who were willing to throw themselves at him. Making out with them in front of Lyca which hurt, not only Lyca but him. The truth is, Aries never bothers with any girls when Lyca is not around. And he never slept with them. Lyca and everyone else thinks he did, but he never did. That's just according to my knowledge.

Aries knew that doing so will eventually drive Lyca away, and he was fine with that. He would rather lose Lyca to someone else, than to death.

I felt a cold thing touch my cheek and I turn to see Aries, holding a can of cold soda.

"To chill your boiling blood." He tells me and hands me the soda. I took it and finished the can in a few seconds.

"Geeze, I could see red smoke coming off of your ears." He tells me and I glare at him.

"What's your plan now?" I ask him and he looks down, dejected.

He ruffled his hair as he leans on the wall of the house and I watch him get all confused and crazy, as I seat on the steps in front of the huge doorway of their packhouse.
