Senior Year

Last Day of Summer

It was the last day of July, one of the most depressing days of the entire year. It would mean tomorrow, August 1st, would be the first day of the new school year. "Ugh. I don't want to," Genevie sighs at the thought of school.
The only good thing about the new year was that she would be a senior. "Finally, more freedom, graduation, college and my cute little apartment in LA" Gene, (short for Genevie), thought.

"Hey Janie, whats up?"
Janie is Geneive's bestfriend for life. They do practically everything for and with eachother. This one time Janie had lost this bet to this rebellious, hot guy named Zac. Since she had lost the bet she had to jump off the tallest part of the rocky mountain. Of course it was on bungees. Janie, however was so scared she needed someone to jump with her, it made her feel more comfortable. The only one who voluntarily jumped with her was Gene and Gene is scared of heights, but that just shows what they'd do for eachother.
"Hey girl, omg are you ready for this year were going to rule the school," Janie says with sass.
"Omg Janie are you quoting the movie Grease?" Gene says laughing.
Their favorite movie to watch together was Grease,well actually any kind of musical was thier favorite.
"Hahah you know me so well, anyway have you started packing up all your summer clothes?"
"Ugh Janie I don't want to pack my summer clothes they mean so much, its my favorite time of year and I have so many memories with these clothes"
"Like the time we saw J Cole at Neon Dessert, and when we went to Playlist Live, yeah those were the good times. But you'll have fun shopping for fall clothes" Janie says with excitement.
"True, omg im a shopihollic, we could go after school tomorrow."
"Yaas! Okay well I need to get ready for tomorrow, see you tomorrow. Oh and send me a pic of what your wearing tomorrow! Bye love ya!"
"Alright, i will bye love ya!" Gene hangs up the phone.
It's the next morning and Geneive wakes up with enthusiasm. She was ready to take on the day, as a senior.
She grabs her towel and heads to the shower. She steps into the warm water and begins washing her body and the aroma of vanilla and sweet pea fills the restroom air. Once she's done she steps out and puts in her cheetah print robe. While she lets her hair air-dry she makes her way to the kitchen to eat breakfast.
"Good morning Mom and Dad"
"What's up Big Perm!" Gene's dad shouts jokingly.
Her Dad called her "Big Perm" because of a movie called "Friday" they watched together. Big Perm is one of the characters in the movie. They adored the movie so much her father just started calling her that nickname.
"Hey mama, are you excited for your first day?" her mom askes.
"Im so ready, I can't wait, hey mom can me and Janie go to the mall afterschool? I need to shop for new fall clothes."
"Well okay, be careful when your driving on the highway," her mom says with hesitation.
"Thanks, oh look who decided to finally wake up." Gene says. It was Genevie's little brother, Nathan who would be starting his first day of high school today. "Leave me alone foo, im not ready for today." Nathan says with disappointment.
"Don't worry high school is'nt that bad, you'll be fine" Gene reassures him.
"Thanks i hope so, well im goimg to shower."
Genevie eyeballs the warm, crispy homemade waffles on her plate, adding strawberries and bananas with honey. Her eyes roll back with pleasure as she bites into the waffle. "Mmmm" Her mom pours orange juice into her empty glass and hands her daughter a napkin.
"Thanks for the yummy breakfast mom loved it!" Gene yells while running out of the kitchen, up the stairs and into her room.
Genevie plugs in her JBL speaker and plays her "Getting Ready" playlist. The playlist featured all her favorite somgs from her favorite artists like J Cole, Drake, Trevor Moran, Troye Sivan and some EDM music. Gene begins to blow dry her damp hair and straightens it with her lepord print flatiron. She then washes her face with a gentle face wash to clear out the oil and sweat she produced from the heat. Genevie begins to apply a thin layer of BB cream and translucent powder. She keeps it simple by applying a rosey pink blush and a a few coats of mascera. Lastly, tops it off with a glossy pink lip gloss. Genevie isn't the biggest fan of applying so much make up to her face.
She walks out of the bathroom and puts on her outfit. She wore a cute floral romper that looked like a dress but was actually shorts, and put on her favorite creme cardigan paired with her white converse. Of course before heading out the door she takes a mirror selfie and posts it on her instagram.
"See you at school hope you have a good day today💖"Gene texts Janie. Gene walkes towards the front door and calls for her brother to hurry up. Her brother runs down the stairs making a whole lot of noise and
grabs his backpack. Gene grabs her book bag and wallet and head to her car. "Bye Mom amd Dad I love you guys!"
