''Bella!!!!! Are you done packing?"

my roommate yelled out from the kitchen. she has been busy cooking lunch for me all morning. Yeah you heard it right, all morning. She might excel at a lot of things but trust me cooking ain't one of them. Once my brother sent us two beautiful chops of sirloin steak, which Maddie so enthusiastically volunteered to grill for us. I legit had to use a cleaver knife to cut through it. It was burnt to the ground, I think it had a shade darker than a charcoal as well but surprisingly it was raw on the inside. I am not even sure if that's even possible but that's how good of a cook my lovely Madeline Anderson is.

"YEAHHH", I yelled back. "Are you done with the lunch, my flight leaves in like 90 mins"

I return my gaze back at the mirror. My long brown hair, bouncing in loose curls around my shoulders. I don't do much with my face as I like it the way it is. So just a bit of compact and a reddish pink tint. I wore a white tank top with black shorts and a oversized varsity jacket. It was a simple and comfy look, perfect for traveling. I was leaving for Canada to visit my family. Because of university I could not go back home, it's been almost five years. I carry my suitcase along with backpack and laptop bag to the living room.

"oh goody, the food is served my lady".she said in a husky voice bowing in little, the way butlers do when you go to an expensive restaurant.

I laugh and take a seat. My laughter soon dies when I see what appears to be spaghetti and meatballs. I gulped not because I am dying to dig in rather scared that I might end up getting sick on the flight.

"Today's special, spaghetti and meatballs. Just so you know I made the sauce from scratch". She says proudly

oh boy "yummm", I say anxiously picking up the fork to get this thing over with. The pasta of the spaghetti looked soggy but surprisingly the sauce and meatballs looks edible so I thanked god that might not end up with salmonella or E.coli.

Maddie who is sitting across me, stares at me with happiness yet sorrow glinting in her eyes. She is happy that I finally get to go home and meet my family, although she doesn't like the idea of living without me and I am not even sure for how long will I be staying in Canada.

When I moved to New York five years ago, I was so lost. All I knew was, that I have to share my apartment with Madeline Anderson. Despite being the complete opposite, we got along pretty well. Huh, Robert Francis winch wasn't kidding when he said "opposites attract". Just to summarize how opposite we are, I am extrovert and she is introvert so despite her lack of social skills, I pushed my way through her heart.

I sigh. "Maddie I will be back in a couple of months I promise. Heck I might come back next month. Mr. Collin wants me to start my thesis paper as early as possible. He says he won't be able to give me dates if I don't get started on my paper". I let out a sign again looking at my plate. Thesis has being like a fish bone struck on my throat, since years now. I couldn't find a supervisor to get my project started and hence the delay in my graduation. Unlike me Maddie doesn't have worry about these things. She is an English lit student.
