Sam's POV
When the ring in the speaker echoed in the whole sea to announce a last move in the gigantic wave, my mind is delightfully clear in doing my final strategy.I maneuver and speed up like a race car ready to set for a race and repeated it twice til my own strength forced me to attack the wave and flip my surfing board to race forward against my opponent and stand in my arms to balance my place.
'.. What a great comeback for Samantha!!!' the host announced with a great energetic voice. 'Okay, our judges will have a hard choices to make, people of Miami. Who will get a hundred thousand dollar price and who will stay in every Miami's heart???' the host keeps on announcing as if scolding someone using the speaker.
When the wave died down, Driella, my friendly opponent, and I swam to the side shore to have a break.
"Great game, Sam."
"Same here, Driel." we shook our hands while smirking as we walk down the sand.
"You company???" she jerked her head to a person behind me, just a few meters standing away from us.
"I'll take it from here." I nod at Driella as I walk away from here. "Save me a drink."
"You know it."
"How many times do I have to tell you that I'm wholeheartedly uninterested to your endless offer???" I tried to walk away from the irritating cop who's been around for me all the time for the whole week, keeping on bringing what happened to the shapeshifter.
"You know I won't stop, Danford." she kept with my pace that made me stop at her statement.
"Why me??"
"Cause you're one of a kind."
"How?? You can do it, you can manage it. You're a good cop??? You have a team that deals with the foundation, you have an experience in chasing one, you have knowledge about them. Why pick me, Williams???"
"Cause you helped one. You've been a victim and you have a persuasive experience.. "
"Look, Senior Police Officer Williams, I appreciate your concern regarding this anomalous events including helping the Miami against it. I'm helping people in or out my duty as a lifeguard, when I'm in the sea or not and helping one of your investigating alien put me and my family in harm and danger including some of the people I protect. I can help people but outside the foundation. So count me out from this operation." I tried to walk away from her, ignoring her all over again.
"There are 3 civilians around the city that has been slaughtered for just a night, Danford. No murder weapon, no suspects, no patterns to lead us to the assault. If one more civilian will be killed for the next few hours, it will be a loss for the Miami and a point to the killer." she made me stop and turn to her.
"That's a classified information, Senior Officer. It's your duty as a police." I sarcastically smirked at her, turning around to find my way away from her.
"I thought you help people." she uttered lastly that made me walk to her, irritated.
"And you too that's why you become a cop, isn't that???" I paused as I lock my atare with her. "Now Williams, don't get used to that wild card you're acing to have me. That won't work with you." I shove my hand to her uniform, sarcastically removing dirt on it. "You're wasting your time, officer. I bet if you'll find the pattern, you'll still save the next victim the murderer's targeting next." I waved away as I brush her off, leaving her standing on her position.
