Joe and Y/N grew up together when they were younger, they lived a few houses away from each other but basically saw each other every single day at school and afterwards as well. Joe always wanted to be an actor and Y/N supported his choice in career but Y/N went for the more educational approach and instead went to college in New York. They spoke almost every day on the phone so it made up for the lack of seeing each other all the time like they used to.
Y/N had finished college for her first year and she was home for a good few months and of course the first person she told was Joe, he had just finished filming the first season of Stranger Things so he also had a lot of free time now so the timing of it all was perfect for the pair. Y/N was at her parents house getting ready since her and Joe decided to meet up at a cafe in town, Y/N put on a large black jumper and a long black skirt with daisies printed on it.
She picked up her car keys and left the house driving all the way to the cafe, when she parked up her car she could already see Joe through the windows sitting on a little stool looking at his phone— she smiled to herself at the excitement of seeing her best friend. When Y/N got out of her car she locked it up and put her keys into her bag before walking to the entrance, when she pushed open the door it made the bell ring so instantly Joe's head shot up and when he saw Y/N he smiled instantly and got off his seat instantly walking over to her pulling her in for a hug.
"How have you been? How's New York?" He asked still hugging her
"I'm great. New York is amazing Joe." She smiled as she pulled away from him, the two then found a booth and sat down opposite each other and ordered some food to eat "Since when did you start wearing glasses?" Y/N asked as she sipped some of her drink
"Only in the last couple of weeks." Joe told her and she nodded her head. The pair caught up with all that's been going on in their different lives recently by laughing and talking it really made Y/N remember how much she had missed Joe these last few months.
"So Nate and I broke up." Y/N dropped the bomb on Joe who almost choked on his food due to the shock which made Y/N laugh
"What? Since when? You never told me." Joe said quickly
"About three months ago. We just didn't seem to fit very well together anymore we realised that we're both very different people." Y/N said casually as she at some of her food,
"Oh I'm sorry." Joe said and Y/N shook her head
"Don't be, we're still friends so I see him every now and again so it's no big deal." Y/N brushed off with a smile. Once the two had finished eating their food they left the cafe and Joe put his arm around Y/N's shoulder and laced his fingers with hers which they always did as they walked to her car
"So did you watch the show?" He asked Y/N when they got into her car
"Oh you mean Stranger Things?" Y/N asked him and Joe scoffed
"What other show would I be talking about?" He laughed
"Well I may have given it a quick view." Y/N teased him
"You dick." He pushed her shoulder
"You were great Joe I'm so proud of you." Y/N told him as she started her car,
"Y/N?" Joe said a little serious and Y/N hummed as she turned her head to face him and before she knew it his lips were on hers which took her by surprise
"What was that?" She asked in confusion
"Something I've been wanting to do for a very long time." He told her and Y/N smiled a little bit while rolling her eyes as the two drove back to her family home. When they arrived they both got out of the car and Y/N walked off ahead so she could unlock the door but Joe took Y/N's hand making her stop and turn round to face him. "I like you Y/N. Like a lot." Joe said with emphasis
"I know you do." Y/N said "I've seen the way you look at me Joe whenever we're together." Y/N told him,
"Then why didn't you say anything about it?" He asked her
"I wanted to see how long it would take for you to make the first move, and might I add. So long over due." Y/N smiled as she pulled Joe close and kissed him which he instantly responded too.
