the girl, poem

11 1 1

she needed to leave,
get out of this mad place,
she needed to take the train beyond the horizons she knew,
to escape the constant nightmares,
she couldn't leave,
it was clear the girl was trapped,

locked, insane,
mad, dark, hopeless,
irreplaceable, uncontrollable.

no one could help her,
she was forced to put on a smile,
they knew not what was wrong,
it was clear to them she was happy,

joyful, loving, loyal, bright, funny, hopeful, a dreamer.

she was a dreamer,
her dreams were of a better place, a bright place,
she needed someone to save her,
to take her to the place of legends,
she knew no one understood,
the girl knew she had no hope,

no spirit, no courage, no bravery, no strength, no life, no love.

she found hope,
hidden in the folds of faults and fears,
but she spent her years waiting,

watching, listening, hoping, dreaming.
