Meeting You

new neighbor

The UPS van drives away, revealing a new family in the Danville neighborhood.

It was a tall family of 3, woman, a male teenager, and a girl pre-teen.

The woman was named Claire, although she is commonly known as Mom, is a single mother of two.

The teenager is Jacob, a 17 year old band geek.

The youngest is Amy, a curious 11 year old with a passion for robotics.

Amy waves to the leaving delivery truck as she holds a Jack Russell Terrior in her arms.

Jacob playfully pushes her over and heads inside, narrowly missing the punch on his shoulder.

"I'm gonna go map out the neighborhood." Amy says, turning to her Mom.

"Go ahead, but be back in 30. We have to go visit my friend. " She responds kissing her head.

Amy grins and puts the dog down to run inside to get her roller skates.

After securing her knee pads, she grabs Koko's leash and latches it onto the dog's special collar.

"You ready girl?" She asks the dog who excitedly wiggles her body.

"I'm out!" Amy shouts, hearing two bye's from various places in the house.

She locks the door behind her and presses a button on her skates.

A quiet humming fills the air as she takes a stop watch out her pocket.

"30 minutes and counting. Ready. Set. GO!" Koko takes off with Amy not far behind as her motor power skates give her a boost.

The two race down the sidewalk, mentally making note of the houses they pass.

A few blocks away, Ferb, a green haired boy was on his way home from getting some batteries.

A dog barking caught his attention, making him stop.

"Watch out!!" A girl yells, making him turn to see her speeding towards him.

Ferb prepares himself for impact but finds himself weightless.

He opens his eyes and they lock onto shiny brown.

"Are you okay?" Amy asks brows scrunched in concern at the boy carried bridal style in her arms, coming to a stop near a brown fence.

Koko takes this time in sniff around as the boy stares at Amy.

Time slows down as he opens his eyes. A brown skinned girl with star earrings looks down at him as White Lilacs and Gardenia fall behind her.

The girl's brown eyes sparkle as her thick eyelashes flutter closed as she blinks.

Her lips part to ask, "Are you okay?")

The boy slowly nods and a smile breaks out across her face, "That's great. Sorry I almost ran over you back there." She says, putting him down.

"I'm Amy, I just moved in the neighborhood." She puts her hand out for a handshake.

"Ferb." He responds, shaking it noticing a bit of roughness.

"Nice to meet you." She grins making his heart flutter. Amy checks her watch and exclaims, "20 minutes left already!"

Koko runs back over to her, holding out her leash as a miniature fan blows from her collar.

"I gotta go, but see you around Ferb!" Amy skates around him and powers on her skates after securing the leash.

"Ready pup. Let's go!" She says, skating off.

"Bye!" She waves as she turns the corner leaving a trail of stars in her wake.

"Amy." Ferb whispers to himself looking down at the hand that shook hers.

A rare smile crosses his face as he starts heading back home.

19 minutes later Amy stops in front of her door stopping the stop watch.

"Yes, right on time." She takes her skates off and slides on her converse.

"Ready to go Munchin." Her mom asks, coming down the stairs.

"Yes mam." Amy chirps as Jacob clamps his hands on her shoulders.

"Nobody hit on you while you were out right?" He asks.

"Nope, though I did sweep a boy off his feet earlier." She responds nonchalantly.

"You what?!" He shouts turning her around.

"Yep, I was about to run into him bit I scooped him up so he wouldn't fall. He had a cool accent too." She says following her mother out.

"She scooped him up like a shojun protagonist. What boy could resist that?!" Jacob stresses grabbing his short curly brown locks.

"Jacob! Come on we have to visit my friend Linda!" Mom calls from the car.

"Mom! I'm having a crisis here and I'm the only APS member in this state." He cries.

"You could try to find some more members for your club there." She responds, sparking a light bulb.

"No time to waste. Let's go." Jacob says locking the door behind him and hopping in the front seat.

"Onwards Mother! To adventure!" Amy says.

"To new club members!"

"To Linda's house!"

Mom backs the car up with a smile and drives down the to the Flynn-Fletcher house.

(At such house)

Ferb reflects on his encounter with Amy. Her brown eyes connecting with his blue, her warm smile.

Ferb sighs and Phineas looks over at him concerned.

"What's wrong Ferb? You've been acting off since you got back." He asks.

"Boys! Come in for a minute I want you to meet someone." Linda calls from inside.

Ferb gives his brother a thumbs up as they head in. After Phineas goes in Ferb hears a familar dog barking.

"Amy, get Koko." A woman says.

"Amy?" Ferb whispers hopefully before entering the kitchen.

Inside he sees a tall woman with short curly brown hair and red glasses.

A tall teenage boy, again with glasses.

And Amy, who was walking towards him.

"Hey Ferb! It's me Amy from earlier." She smiles, as her dog barks in greeting from her backpack.

"Hello Amy." Ferb manages to get out.
