[!TW: mentions of abuse, angst!]

"What the hell is this," Itsumi groaned, scratching out the wrong answer for the fifth time.

"Who knew you sucked this bad at math," Touya remarked, "It's pretty easy, you know."

"Easy my ass," she snapped, and scribbled down her final equation, "There, is this right?"

She shoved it towards him. Touya cast a glance over it as he began reading. Halfway through the sum, he shook his head.

"You did the steps all wrong," he spoke, "You're supposed to square it on both the sides – and then this step is wrong too, right here which is why you're getting –"

He froze.

"What?" Itsumi asked worriedly.

"I – your answer is correct," he said.

"What?"

"I don't know! You did the method all wrong, damn it, why is this correct!?"

"I don't know!" Itsumi yelled fervently, "Luck, I guess?"

"No, it's not luck," Touya marvelled, "This is literally – you didn't even add these numbers right, how the heck did you get the right answer!?"

"Math is weird, dude," Itsumi shrugged, "Anyway that's the teacher's problem now." She shut her book, "Finally, we're done."

"Yeah," Touya muttered, "I should get going, I have to train with my dad."

"Oh?" Itsumi asked, "Didn't we train today at school, though?"

"Yeah... he wants to see how much I've progressed, I guess," Touya shrugged, getting up and grabbing his jacket.

"That's good," Itsumi nodded, "He's trying to mold you into a hero."

Touya gritted his teeth in annoyance, but only hummed in reply as he said, "See you," before turning the doorknob and exiting her room.

Disappointed that he had to leave so soon, Itsumi sighed and began scrolling mindlessly through her phone. It was only when she looked up towards her desk that she realized Touya had forgotten his books.

"Idiot," she muttered, "He'll get killed if he doesn't turn that homework in tomorrow..."

Grabbing his textbook and notebook, she threw on a jacket and headed towards the door to inform her mother she'd be back in a while.

Itsumi didn't think too much of it when she opened the door to the Todoroki Residence – she and Touya had spent hours together inside without anyone even being aware she was over, so she didn't think anyone would mind if she dropped his things off and left.

She removed her shoes and moved towards Touya's room. Nobody was in the living room, so she walked straight towards the door at the far end of the hall.

There were faint sounds coming from it.

She frowned. Wasn't he supposed to be training?

Moving closer, she rested her hand on the knob, ready to open the door but then froze.

"Pathetic. If that can get you down, what will you do as a hero you big waste of space!?"

It sounded a hell lot like Endeavor's voice to Itsumi, who strained her ears, listening harder.

"Get up. I said get up, NOW!"

Faint whimpering could also be heard as Itsumi's eyes widened.

"Look at me. I SAID LOOK AT ME!"

The sound of knuckles hitting flesh was all it took for Itsumi to drop the books onto the ground and cover her mouth in horror as it made a loud thumping noise.

Silence fell over the room. Then, she heard feet shuffling, as the door opened and Endeavor looked outside.

Itsumi never thought she would be cowering away from the number two pro hero this way, but at the moment, his very appearance looked terrifying.

"Oh, Midoriya. What are you doing here?"

"I – T-Touya – he – he l-left his – books at m-my house s-so I thought I'd b-bring them b-back," she could barely string two sentences together owing to the horror that was slowly consuming her.

"Oh, I see. Leave them here, please."

Itsumi stared.

Impatient, Endeavor said, "Well? Leave them here, he'll take them later."

Her frightened eyes moved from his appalling face to Touya's terrifying one behind him. It took everything in her to not scream at the bruises adorning his face.

His eyes were wide and teary as he stared back at her with a sense of urgency.

"Go," he mouthed, "Please, just go."

Itsumi wanted to say something to him but nothing came out as she soundlessly stared.

Touya sent her a pleading look that was enough to snap her back into her senses as she took a shuddering breath and bent down to pick up the books.

"H-here, s-sir," she handed them to Endeavor who carelessly tossed them inside the room, making her wince as they hit the ground with a dull thud.

"Thank you," he told her dismissively and shut the door in her face.

And there stood Itsumi Midoriya, absolutely horrified and unable to comprehend what she had just witnessed.
