"Now, I have some demands." Daniels said, slightly shaking the gun. The others (minus Jack Skellington, who seemed distracted) listened, despite their expressions showing that following said demands were the last things they wanted to do.

No one looked up, where a space ranger was climbing along the drapes, a cowboy rag doll clinging to his friend's back for dear life. When Daniels had entered the room, Buzz had grabbed Woody and darted behind the drapes. While Red had accused Daniels of being a horrible person (a sentiment that both toys agreed with), Buzz had begun climbing up to the ceiling. He had a plan to get Daniels out of the way; he just needed the others to keep distracting him.

The man had accidentally done that himself when he pulled out the gun. While he was listing his demands and making sure none of the characters left the room, Buzz made it to the ceiling. He nodded to Woody, who pulled out his pull string and attached it to the rod the drapes were hanging from. He was very careful not to pull it so hard that his voice box would go off. Buzz readied his laser, preparing to shoot a beam of light into Daniels' eyes the second he looked over.

Unfortunately, the plan fell apart less than a second later. Woody had pulled his string harder than he thought he had. Just as Daniels was finishing his demands, a tinny voice cried out.

"There's a snake in my boot!"

Daniels looked at the floor, and quickly realized that neither of the toys were among his group of hostages. He looked up, and located the toys in the drapes. Buzz didn't waste any time, and fired his laser into the man's eye.

The laser, Buzz had known for a while, was only a light bulb, but it could still sting one's eyes if they looked directly at it. Daniels cried out and clapped his hand over his eyes, but the gun was still pointed at the hostages. Before Buzz or Woody could think of what to do to get it away from him, Jack Skellington dove forward and tackled the surprised Daniels. Everyone's breath stopped when the gun went off.

"You hit him!" Red shrieked. She ran to Jack's side.

Daniels quickly backed up, shocked at what he'd done. The gun fell from his hands, but thankfully didn't go off as it hit the floor. Before he could say anything, Nala ran forward, showing all of her teeth as she roared. The man's bravado failed and he darted out the door, running down the hallway.

"Jack!" Woody jumped from the ceiling, with Buzz right behind him. They were by the skeleton's side in a second. Both the cowboy and the space ranger were racked with shock and terror. Thoughts were racing through Buzz's head. Was Jack dead? Should they find a doctor? Why had he done that?

"Don't worry my friends," Jack said on the floor, "I'll be okay."

"But you were shot!" Buzz exclaimed. "You were hurt! You could be dying!"

"I wasn't hurt." Jack got up, grinning. "I'm perfectly fine. I was hit, yes, but bullets can't hurt me. See?" He reached into his chest and pulled out the bullet.

"He's already dead, remember?" McQueen reminded the toys. He sounded rather nonchalant, likely being the only one to remember that Jack couldn't die again. "If he can easily take himself apart, I think he can get shot without any damage."

"Unfortunately, there was damage." The skeleton sadly admitted as he got up. He turned around, revealing a hole the size of a quarter in the back of his blazer.

Red laughed, although Buzz suspected it was mostly from relief. "You can worry about that later. Thanks for taking a bullet for us, Pumpkin King. And..." She looked at the floor. "I'm sorry that I got you shot in the first place. If I hadn't started yelling at him like that--"

"Don't worry about that." Mr. Chen comforted her. "Daniels has been working here for nearly a year, and I always felt there was something off about him. Honestly, I think he would have pulled that gun out no matter who had spoken or what they'd said." The veteran park employee gave her a gentle smile. Buzz saw that he had surprisingly kind eyes.

"And I still would have tackled him." Jack added with determination. "I've said it before and I'll say it again: A good scare is enjoyable, but threatening one's life isn't fun for anyone."

"Attention all employees." Mr. Chen began to speak into his radio as he picked up Daniels' dropped gun. "We now have a Code Gaston along with the Code Wonderland. Lock down all entrances and exits to the park, and keep the guests out of harm's way. I have the Ascended Cast Members, and I need an escort to take them to where the magic happens. I'm going after the Gaston."

He looked up from his radio to address the others. "The park is currently on lock down. When I saw you kids heading to the castle, I knew that they weren't animatronics and issued a Code Wonderland, or 'Real Characters in Park'."

"You have a code for real characters in the park?" Marty asked, clearly bewildered.

"I told you, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. After fifty years, you see a few things. Code Gaston means 'Dangerous Man in Park'. Now, you kids get the characters to the front of the castle. A few cast members will be there to lead you to a place backstage. Don't worry, they know what to do. I'll meet you there once I've gotten the Charm back from Daniels. Any questions?"

"Yeah. Is your first name really Somsak?" Marty asked.

"That isn't what I meant," Mr. Chen answered, "but yes. Still, you will call me Mr. Chen. Understood?" While he was undoubtedly on their side, he gave a death glare so icy that everyone shivered. Marty quickly shook his head 'yes'. Mr. Chen nodded back, and ran into the hall, sticking Daniels' gun into his shirt as he ran.

"Come on," Red told everyone, "we need to get down to the castle, fast!"

"Wait!" McQueen interrupted. "We're missing someone!"

Buzz quickly did a headcount, and realized that the car was right. They were missing two.
