You began walking slowly through the grass to prevent making much noise. You were so close to making it through until you heard them drop down behind you. Oh shit. Your body was instantly hit with a flight or fight response and with that, you began dashing, absorbing a star along the way.

You heard some distant footsteps behind you and a very familiar voice.

"Y/N! Get back here!" Miles yelled. OUT OF ALL PEOPLE, MILES AGAIN?

You ignored his call and continued running, splashing water along the way. You looked behind you to see Miles' masked face was now visible through the darkness of the caverns. What the hell is gonna do when he catches you? As soon as you thought of this, you felt your feet lift off the ground and realized he tackled you down, forcing your bat to go flying. He was now on top of you, holding your arms down. Damn it!

"Damn you, Miles! I should've swung when I had the chance!" You yelled. You struggled through his grip, but he kept pushing you down every time you were almost out. You tired out and gave up, panting at the realization he could kill you now if he wanted.

Flowey, when I need you the most, you aren't here...

"Oh Y/N... looks like I'm faster than you now." He said. "Listen, I know you hate me right now. But, I want to tell you a little something. You see, I-" You saw some vines quickly emerge from the ground, lifting Miles up and slamming him down, hard. You swore you could hear several bones break. "Well damn." That's all you could say. You saw Miles' soul appear, and it broke into pieces. Flowey appeared from the ground. You gasped.

"You see," Flowey said as if he continued from Miles' words. "I couldn't let my Y/N get hurt. Listen, I'm sorry about your buddy and all, but I won't be able to follow you for a few, okay?" He said. Miles... died? Shit! That's another problem now...!

"Did you kill him?!" You accidentally yelled.

"No, he's a human. Look, Alphys and I are doing something right now. We did some human research, and learned that there are stars you can see. You and Miles are able to touch or absorb them. The more you two find or absorb, the more our experiment goes as planned. By the time you meet Alphys, she will have enough research. It's a surprise for you. You will see Miles in a few, but whatever he does to you now, you have to protect yourself..." He said.

"What is the research and experiment for?! Is this gonna affect me?" You asked. "Well, it'll change me and you. It involves something I'm hiding..." He blushed. "It'll tell you a little something. When you came down here... you taught me how to feel and express some emotions. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't be able to get through the first stage of the experiment. Well, goodbye, Y/N. I really can't thank you enough..." Before you could speak again, he dispersed into the ground.

I wonder... what will this experiment really do?

You began walking again, picking up your bat and coming along a path that Sans was in, standing next to a telescope. You absorbed the star and put your bat in the box nearby since it apparently will return in the future.

"Hey Sans." You approached him and spoke up.

"hey kid. check out this telescope. you can look at stars." He said. You felt like there was something up with the telescope, so you declined. "I know you did something to it," You laughed. "I'm not falling for it."

"no, really. i did nothing to it." He said.

You flashed him a look of disbelief, but you peered in and looked around, looking at the crystal-like colorful stars. They were nice, but you noticed a red ring was around the lens and pulled away. "Sans, you lie!" You yelled.

You looked around, but Sans wasn't in sight. Oh, that prankster... you wiped your eye and began walking. As you continued on, you eventually came across some blue flowers and heard some voices coming from them. You came up to the first one.

"Hey, Y/N. These are echo flowers. Speak to them and they will repeat whatever you say. Be careful of what you say and how loud you speak to them."

You recognize it's Flowey's voice. You trailed down to the next one and started listening to them in order.

"If you're here, please know that you won't be seeing me until you get to the capital. I'm sorry."

"Me and Alphys are conducting an experiment that will turn me back to my true form."

"And that means... I won't be a stupid flower anymore."

You started to hear the sorrow in his voice. "I... I can't do much as a flower. And you know that."

"Y/N... I... I have something to tell you when you make it to the capital, okay?"

You were now on the second to last on. "I'll see you soon."

You looked at the last flower in case he had something else to say, so you approached it. Instead... you heard something horrifying...

"Y/N..." You heard some laughter within. And it's not Flowey's.

"I got you now!"

Miles tackled you again, out of nowhere, and in the same exact way.

You were not expecting it and swore you almost had a heart attack. His grip was solid this time and you couldn't even struggle.

"Why so stubborn? Won't you cooperate this time? You're making this harder than it needs to be..." He said. "No, I'm trying to get away from you, clearly!" You replied.

"Ah... I see. I'll make you understand." He cackled as he then suddenly pulled out a small bottle. "If you drink this, I'll let you go. Your flower friend made this for you. Open wide."

You didn't think much of it, so you opened your mouth and he poured it for you. You swallowed and started feeling a bit dizzy.

The world felt lighter...

"What did he put in this...?!" You asked, looking up as he got off of you. He was seemingly letting you free. You tried to get up but couldn't feel your arms.

"Silly Y/N, you drank a sedative! Now you're coming with me!" He began laughing. You began to feel tired and black out once more...

...

You eventually woke up hours later, on top of the same flowers you remember from the start. You got up and almost instantly bumped into someone, which expectedly was Miles. "Oh you're awake now... don't try anything dumb. Here, have a seat before you try to kill me again." You decided to listen this time and not be stubborn. You knelt down and he did the same.

"So... first, I wanna say I'm sorry. I'm not trying to kill you anymore, I'm just gonna tackle you and interrogate you. What happened was I was taken off that bounty. They told me to take a break and occasionally get some information out of you. Basically I have to check on you and report your whereabouts. Am I gonna tell them where you are? Of course not. You're still my friend, right?" You thought for a second but nodded.

"Thank you, Y/N. I just want to fit in with the Underground. See, I got down here trying to get back to the neighborhood. But I fell down a secret hole and it took me to the middle of Waterfall. Some guards found me and challenged me to a fight and tried to take my soul, but I managed to beat them with just my pocket knife. I spared them and they took me to the head of the Royal Guard, Undyne. We talked and now I'm an assassin, I guess. They gave me a bounty to capture the next human to come down here, and then handed me a sword enchanted with the power of a human soul. Weird right? Apparently, they gave the sword to Undyne but she gave it to me. That sword can kill anyone in four heavy swings. By the way..." He stood up.

"I'm gonna demand answers from you when I catch you. If you don't give in, they'll take both of our souls and cross the barrier. Or~ we could have a fun little fight. Anyway, you're my new nemesis. Bye, Y/N!"

You weakly nodded and waved goodbye as he turned around, sprinting quickly through the water. Soon, the water splashes were no more and you focused on yourself now.
