I wake up to someone poking me in the face. "Peter, what are you doing?" "I'm trying to wake you up." "Why so early?" "Because it's adoption day and we need to get ready." I open my eyes and sit up. "Alright fine, let me get changed." I hop out of bed and walk over to my closet and get changed. I'm wearing a black shirt with a red star on the left shoulder, a black hoodie with the Marvel logo, and black jeans. I walk back over to Peter and say "Ready." He smiled and grabbed my hand and we headed to the main room where Miss Ava was. She saw us and said "Go wake the others, then you will have a quick breakfast before adoption day starts, which it starts in 30 minutes, so be quick." We turn and run up the stairs to our rooms. I run to my room and wake the other girls, Maddie, Chrissy, and Gina. Peter runs to his room and wakes Johnny, Blake, and Michael. They all get dressed and we all walk downstairs to the kitchen and eat breakfast. There isn't much food, so I give mine to the others, since I'm the oldest I feel like I need to help take care of the others.
After breakfast, Miss Ava comes in and tells us to come outside with her to the courtyard where adoption day will be held. We walk outside and spread out around the yard. Young couples and a few single people start to show up. I'm sitting on a bench, finishing a sketch that I had been working on the day before. The sketch is of Captain America and Iron Man, along with all the other sketches in my book, it is Marvel themed. I put down my pen and I pull out my colored pencils. I start coloring in the sketch when someone walks up to me. I look up and see Peter standing in front of me. He holds out his hand and in his hand is a chocolate bar. "Here." he says, "Since you gave your food to the rest of us you didn't get to eat. I was saving this for later, but you need food." He tries to hand me the chocolate bar, but I say, "No bud, it's okay. I don't need food. I'm just fine with giving you guys my food." He starts to look sad then I say, "How about we split it?" He smiles and opens the chocolate bar and breaks it in half and hands me one half. I eat the candy and he smiles and walks away. I go back to coloring when I hear someone speak right next to me, "Hey kid, that was nice of you, but what did he mean by you gave them your food?" I looked up to see a stranger wearing jeans, a red t-shirt, a baseball cap, and sunglasses, he also has brown hair that goes down almost to his shoulders. "Oh, well, since we don't have a lot of food here, I gave the other kids my food. I'm the oldest and I want to make sure they get enough food. Plus I'm fine if I don't eat, I'm used to it." I smile at the stranger and start to color again. The stranger kneels down next to me and asks, "Did you draw that?" I nod, "I love Marvel comics, especially the Avengers." The stranger laughs, "You are very good at drawing, do you have any other drawings?" I nod and show him the rest of my sketches. He flips through my sketch book, he looks at my sketches of the Tesseract, Thor and Loki, Captain America and Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, and the Avengers Cast. He hands me back my book and says, "You are very talented." "Thanks" he smiles and says, "Tell me about yourself." I put my book down and face the stranger, "Well, my name is Trixie." he interrupts, "That's a cool name, I once knew someone with that name, sorry, please continue." I nod then say, "I'm 13, and like I said before I really like Marvel comics. I came to Miss Ava's home for kids when I was around 2 or 3, my mom died and I never knew my dad, I've been here all my life. I'm the oldest so I take care of the other kids. Last Halloween they wanted to go trick or treating, so I took them around the neighborhood, and I even made their costumes. My friend Peter helped me make mine out of left over scraps from the other's costumes. Peter was Spider-Man because he loves Spider-Man, and I was Captain America, only because I couldn't afford anything else after buying the kids' costumes so I had to use what I had, which meant I had to be my second favorite character." "Who is you're favorite character?" "Bucky Barnes." I say proudly. "Why is Bucky Barnes your favorite?" The stranger asks, "Well, he went through a lot, and even when it was bad and he wanted to give up, he didn't. When he was finally free, he was strong and lived with the guilt he had, he blamed himself for what he did, even though it wasn't him. I want to be strong like him." I smile proudly again, which makes the stranger smile too. "Well, it was lovely talking to you, but I must be going, maybe we can talk again sometime." the stranger says as he stand up. "Wait!" I say, "What's your name?" "Oh, I'm Sebastian." He smiles and walks away. He was nice, I think to myself as I go back to my coloring.
