The water's edge

Is where she waits

Lost souls still wandering

Meant to die

But she's stuck not crossing over

Most people don't return to the places where they almost died. Most of

the time they do their absolute best to never go anywhere near the

place again. But after i almost drowned in the sea, all i ever wanted

was to go back.

It became the one place i felt safe. I never went into the water, but

the sound of crashing waves and the sand underneath my toes calmed me.

Whenever i ran away, it was to the coast. Whenever i ran away it was

to gaze into the horizon, watching it, being pulled towards it, but

never touching the water.

The other side

Is where he waits

His spirit reaching out

Meant to save

But she's too scared

To take his hand

Someone saved me that day. He dove into the water and pushed me out of

the rip tide. He put me on his back and swam out of it. He kept

telling me to kick, but i couldn't. I was too scared to help.

I remember salt water splashing in my face. I can remember his voice.

Even when waves crashed over our heads he tried to be calm, tried to

keep me calm.

Living in a world without you

Drowning in the past

Is living in no word at all

So now i call on you

All i ever learned about him was his name, after the coroner

identified him. I didn't know why he bothered to go out into the water

to save a girl who went to deep. I had never met him before, but he

was handsome, even when he was coughing up water in a desperate

attempt at life when we hit the shore. If it hadn't been for that last

wave, he would have lived.

Remember me

I gave you life

You would not take it

Your suffering

Was all in vain

It's almost over now

Don't turn your back on paradise

His name appears everywhere in my life now. I can hear the waves

whispering it at the ocean, calling my name too. It hurts to be alive

when i know how much he gave up for me. He had a life, he was going to
