The next few days were busy, starting a new high school and bringing home piles of homework. Ace hadn't been doing well at his other school, and he wasn't interested in trying now. The other night, he tried to call Allison and he kept getting her voice message. "Call me," he said simply but she never did and soon her voice mail was full. Sighing, he wondered why he bothered anyway. Mark would be bringing her here soon although he had no idea when that would be. What was he going to tell her anyway? He had no idea and so he stopped trying.

In second period, Ace yawned as the teacher wrote math problems on the white board explaining them in an extremely slow annoying voice. Looking out the window, he thought highly of leaving. Suddenly, he saw a boy walking on the road kicking a stone. As the boy got closer, he saw it was Spencer who was supposed to be in his 5th or 6th grade class. He shrugged but he continued to watch until Spencer came right up to the window waving at Ace and motioning with his hand. Glancing over at the teacher who hadn't even noticed. She was busy writing on the board, but others started to laugh. "Do you know him?" Somebody asked.

"Nope," Ace said and then told the teacher he was going to the rest room. She gave him a pass which he dumped in the trash and walked out of the school yelling. "Spencer, what the fuck are you doing? Get your ass over here before somebody calls the cops."

"Hi Ace!" Spencer said running over to him and followed Ace who turned onto a side street walking fast. "Were are we going?"

"I don't know," Ace said looking back and was relieved they weren't being followed. "What are you doing out here?"

"Oh I left after my class went to the library and Ms. Piggywiggly told me to be quiet. I wasn't even talking. That was Freddy and he was showing some kids a frog he brought in the school. Then it got lose and everyone was yelling. It was a riot," Spencer said giggling. "Until she blamed me for it and sent me to the office. So I just walked out. All I had been doing is listening to stories on a audio book until the frog got lose."

Ace didn't blame him for leaving. "That must have been a scene," he said chuckling.

"Yeah. It was funny as hell!" Spencer said skipping along and swinging his arms widely. "What do you want to do?"

Ace shrugged as they came to the end of the alley and saw a few business's. "I really don't know this island very well."

"I know where a park is. Wanna go?"

"Sure," Ace said and followed Spencer. As they approached the park, he took a cigarette out of his pack and started to light it.

Spencer grabbed the cigarette and threw it. "Thats gross."

Ace glared at him and reached for the little weasel, but he was out of reach already.

Climbing the tall monkey bars, Spencer said laughing, "Come and get me!"

"Brat," Ace said and climbed higher and higher after the boy until they were both sitting at the top.

"Your not gonna hurt me are ya?" Spencer asked shrinking from him.

"I should," Ace said glaring at the boy. After a moment, he shook his head as climbing up had been tiring and he didn't want to hurt the kid. This was the highest monkey bars he had ever seen. As they sat there, Ace saw Mark driving by slowly. "Awe hell. We just got spotted."

Mark parked and walked over giving both of them stern looks. "What are you two doing over here? Get in the car!"

For a moment, Ace just sat there wondering if he would go away. He hated being yelled at like a child.

"Do I need to call the fire department? Come on you two."

Ace groaned and started to climb down. He noticed Spencer had been copying him and was staying there. "Might as well go down."

"No way! He might hit you," Spencer warned.

Ace shrugged. "It wouldn't be the first time I was hit." He told him as he reached the bottom.

"Are you coming? Or do I need to climb up after you?" Mark said getting extremely annoyed.

Spencer was shaking his head.

"He's scared your going to hit him," Ace told Mark.

Mark sighed and softened his expression some as he looked up at Spencer. "I'm not going to spank you unless I have to come up there after you."

After a few minutes, Spencer reluctantly came down. "Am I in trouble?"

"Oh yes. We'll be having a talk and you'll be getting a minus point," Mark told him.

Ace got into the back seat and tuned them out. He wasn't worried about getting in trouble or getting hit.
