Red watched, terror building up, as Thomas and Fatima raised their hands and backed up. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw McQueen reverse so that the entrance to the monorail was totally blocked. At least he can't get out that way, she thought.
"Alright, listen up!" Daniels' grin was different this time; it was still smug, but now it had a strained quality to it. He was breathing heavily and sweating buckets, though it was barely seventy degrees out. He was staring at everyone as though he thought they were all about to start throwing knives at him.
"He's losing it." Marty whispered, possibly to himself.
"I doubt he ever had it," Moana whispered a response.
"LISTEN!" Daniels was screaming now. Everyone paid attention. Red could now barely see Daniels; Jack was blocking him, and the gun, from hers, Marty's, and Moana's view. She didn't protest.
"Here's how this is going to go. You kids and cast members are going to stay here until I've left. Don't call anyone, don't text anyone, don't send for help. You characters are all coming with me. You're going to be part of my attraction, and it's going to be better than anything this stupid park ever was!" He started laughing hysterically, as if someone had just told the world's funniest joke. Red realized that Marty was right. This guy was nuts.
"You're all going to thank me one day!" Daniels insisted. He held up the Charm, so that it gleamed in the sunlight. "You'll thank me for stealing thi–OOOWWW!!!"
Overcome with pain, he dropped the gun (but still held the Charm) and covered his eyes with one arm. Red smirked, despite knowing that they weren't out of danger yet. Woody, leading Buzz by the arm, had jumped onto her shoulder at some point during the insane man's tirade, and had readied his friend's laser. When Daniels had held the Charm up, a well-aimed Star Command-issue laser had reflected off it and hit him right in the eyes. A perfect shot.
The guards wasted no time; Fatima dove for the gun while Thomas went after Daniels. But Daniels, as Mr. Chen had warned, was stronger than he looked. He threw off Thomas and charged at Fatima. She tried to kick him, but he got the gun away from her. He aimed in the general direction of Thomas, who froze. Red's heart was in her mouth, and she was absent-mindedly hugging Woody. Daniels pulled the trigger...and nothing happened.
Mr. Chen, who'd been silent up until that point, spoke up. Despite the situation, he spoke very calmly. "Excuse me, Rod, but are you looking for these?" He then proceeded to pull the ammo for Daniels' pistol out of his pockets.
Daniels froze, with a stupid look on his face (Nala later admitted that she thought it suited him). He looked down at his hands, and realized that he still had the Charm. Unfortunately for him, he'd forgotten about Fatima, who grabbed him from behind. When he turned to defend himself, he threw the Charm.
Marty, who's father had spent hours in the backyard teaching him to catch a baseball, leapt up and caught the Charm as it sailed through the air. He landed with a triumphant look on his face. Red actually laughed, while Moana cheered.
"GIVE ME THAT!" Marty's smile disappeared when he turned and saw Daniels barrelling towards him, his eyes filled with utter lunacy. He started running, and Daniels was so focused on catching him that he was caught completely off guard when Red punched him in the face.
Marty tossed the Charm to her, and when Daniels (who recovered remarkably fast) went after her, she threw it to Jack, who then tossed it to Moana. This game of keep-away went on for a minute at least, with Daniels trying to catch the flying Charm while the security guards kept racing after Daniels. Mr. Chen, who was forced to stay on the sidelines the whole time due to his head injury, later told the kids that it was one of the funniest things he'd ever seen.
The fun stopped, however, when Woody caught the Charm, and was promptly lifted into the air by Daniels. He held up Woody as Fatima was about to catch him. He wasn't grinning anymore. Now he was just baring his teeth in frustration and rage.
"Nobody move or I'll rip him apart!"
"Woody!" Buzz exclaimed. Nala had to physically hold him back from running to help.
"Let him go!" Marty ordered Daniels, slowly moving towards him. Red knew that he was only distracting the madman so that he didn't see her sneaking up behind him.
"NO! I'm DONE taking orders! No man alive can make me do anything for–" He had to stop when Red tackled him from behind. Woody and the Charm flew from his grasp.
The cowboy landed unhurt, but everyone heard a sharp crack. As they all looked to where the Charm had fallen, they saw it. Several shattered pieces of what had once formed a silhouette of a certain mouse's head.
