Chapter 3: I Don't Like the Bad Boy Ego

"You got a detention? On your first day?" Alex pesters.

"Yes, I did." I say trying to concentrate on my chemistry assignment.

"Really? That's so cool!" My brother screeches. Idiot. "What did you do?"

"None of your business. Now shut up, I am trying to concentrate," I tell him, rubbing my temple. "Don't you have homework?"

"Nope."

"Well... go play... Minebuild or whatever that game is you play." I say shooing him with my hand.

"It's Minecraft and I think I will," he retorts, turning on his heel toward the stairs. Finally, peace and quiet!

"Ashlynn May, we need to chat," my mom yells from the other room. Crap.

"Yes?"

"Don't even play clueless with me," she says, raising an eyebrow. I gulp.

"Okay, okay. I'm sorry. I was just so pissed off with Aidan that the word just slipped out and-"

"Wait. You got in trouble for swearing?" Mom questions.

"Yeah..."

"Ha! Priceless!" Mom laughs. "I thought it was worse than that! You must have one strict teacher."

"Well, from what I have seen so far, I could agree with that. And I was just annoyed to death because Aidan would not leave me alone. So I kind of told him to go f*ck himself."

Mom laughs loudly. I smile at her silly behavior.

"Good girl!" She holds up her hand and I high five it. This is one of the many reasons why I love my mom. We are so alike and cannot stay mad at each other.

"So Aidan was 'bugging' you huh?" She wriggles her eyebrows. "He likes you. I call it."

"No he does not!" I exclaim, blushing.

"And I bet you like him too." She did not just say that.

"No way!" I blurt out, blushing even more. She laughs.

"Uh huh, sure..."

"Mom, I really don't. He is annoying, immature, mean, and-"

"You like him." She finishes.

"No. I don't."

"We'll see," she says standing up from her chair. "By the way, I invited them over for dinner tonight."

My mouth drops open and she winks. She. Did. Not.

"I got it," I yell to my mother. I rush to the front door, unlocking it and pulling it wide open.

"Hola, Ashlynn," Alicia greets.

"Hola! Come on in!" I reply moving out of the way so they can enter the house. Alicia's hand is intertwined with a man whom I have not met yet. She is followed by Febe and of course, Aidan.

Aidan's dark hair is messed up making him look absolutely gorgeous, I am not going to lie. He is dressed in the same attire that he wore for school, which is a tight black shirt that showed his muscular body and tan shorts.

"This is my husband, Philip," Alicia introduces. The large man sticks out his hand and I take it, shaking it.

"It is a pleasure to meet you," I say, glancing at Aidan and then back at Philip. I see where Aidan gets his looks from.
