Sasaki Haise was officially the night guard at the museum that was dedicated to the memory of dangerous ghouls and what horrors they caused. Luckily, the figures were wax and had no remnants of their kagune or will to eat people. Considering they never would awake again that is.
Flicking on the lights for the night, Sasaki strolled through the long halls filled with images of ghouls alongside their wax figure. Tilting his head at a certain figure, a small almost childish laugh escaped him.
Nutcracker. Really. It was not his place to judge these dead people but she looked like a straight out whore and supposedly ate male victim's nuts. How appetizing.
Sasaki lifted his black and white haired head as the lights flickered, surprising him as his hand fell on his belt where he held a gun and a small quinque, enough for self defense.
Sighing as it turned out to be nothing, he continued down the hall. He had never been to the place, a marble structure in the middle of a stone city, showcasing the many kills of the CCG who were officially disbanded due to the lack of living ghouls. Theoretically, there were no more left besides himself and his Quinx Squad who were only half-ghouls themselves.
Another flicker of the lights and the man turned to find a small woman standing in alarm in his direction. She looked familiar but no chances were to be taken due to the many ghoul weapons retired here. Pulling out his gun and aiming, he finally found his voice.
"Why the hell are you here? The museum's closed!"
The small bandaged woman turned on her heels and began to run, not a word leaving her throat.
"H-hey! Where do you think your going?!"
Picking up his feet and forcing himself into a sprint after the figure, he was quickly gaining. Sliding around a corner, he was surprised when the figure was gone.
"You know, you really don't know what you got yourself into~." Chirped an almost metallic voice as the hooded figure dropped from the ceiling above Sasaki. "I like Hide better."
"Huh?"
"You thought a simple night shift was fine, eh? Welp, there's a lot to learn."
"Hold up, what do you mean."
"They think we're all dead. Ghouls, obviously, but the fact of the matter is we come back each night here. Odd, right?"
"The fuck, is this some kind of joke?"
"No, no Sasaki. I'm Eto. The murderous owl~ nice name, ya know."
"Your joking me." Haise growled grasping the smaller woman's arm to find it tight and certainly wax like. Even so, he dragged the woman around corners until he found Eto's exhibit and sure enough, it was empty. "Huh?!"
"Yep. Pretty neat. Technically, we don't have a reason to kill you so you should be fine. I'll go tell the others we have a new gu-"
"There's others?!"
"Duh. It wouldn't be fair if I was the only one who woke up at night. Follow me!"
Without a choice Haise ran after the figure towards an S rank wall. He wasn't very fond of this chosen hall but didn't dare argue. As the purple coated figure waltzed around, the ex-investigator jumped as a pound on the glass got his attention.
"Don't worry Sasaki-San. That's just Serpent, or Nishiki. I'll let him out."
"Excuse me?"
"I do have a spare set of keys. Hide let me have them!" Without a moment to spare, she went to the glass and unlocked the figure who looked about ready to curse out anyone who came near him.
