Hi, my name is beans_peans and I'm here to talk about some art tips for everyone!
Even though I am not a professional, I want to share some of the things I've learnt along my way through art!
1. Don't shade with black! - if the shirt is green, shade with a darker green, if it's blue, shade with a darker blue. If you do shade with black, it makes your picture look smudgy and dirty :(
2. Details matter! - If there are buttons on the shirt, draw them carefully. A wobbly, blob of a drawn button doesn't look half as good as a nicely drawn button. One careful detail can make your art look more intricate, but remember, don't add too much! Less is more!
3. Don't colour something entirely black - One time, I was drawing someone with a black hoodie and I decided to colour the whole thing black. Not only was that a waste of the black coloured pencil, but it also did not look realistic.
When you have a black shirt or a black anything---shade with black, as dark as you can go, but don't press too hard (see next point on that)! Then your art will give an optical illusion that your object is somewhat gray. Then shade in the rest of your object to make it look black!4. Don't press too hard! - Many of you already know this but not what it causes. When you are drawing, you noticed these annoying white streak/lines in your paper and if you try to colour on it, it gets worse! That is what happens if you press too hard on the page before in your sketchbook.
How to avoid: Put an additional sheet of paper under the sheet of paper you are drawing onThat is all! I hope this helped you! Stay tuned for more art and art tips!
