"Good morning to you all! And much thanks to you all for joining us here today to celebrate our senior secondary three set of 2019 as they are all set to graduate with all of us here today after successfully concluding their examination" The MC said and it resulted to cheers and claps all around the hall.
The place was filled up to its brim with family members, school staff, both invited and uninvited guests all there to celebrate their children as they conclude their twelve years of education.
"We would like to call upon one of our lovely parents today to open the event with a prayer, Alhaji Jamil Lawan, the senate president of the federal republic of Nigeria". People all around clapped as he stepped into the stage and prayed not after praising his daughter very much and congratulating the other students.
Meanwhile, the other students that weren't graduating had their own area to sit down and watch the event from.
"Amani please don't ruin this picture please just smile!" A frustrated Mardiya groaned.
"Fine, fine cheese" She finally smiled and she got a good shot while Amani went back to editing the tiktok video she made earlier, planning on doing another one.
"Mardiya please can you come with me? I want to talk to you about something important please come with me" Khalisa said in an annoyed tone.
"Wai what is it? You've been disturbing me. I'm sure it can wait till we go back home koh?" Mardi replied while looking at her pictures on Amani's phone.
Khalisa couldn't take if anymore so she dragged her hand and they went out of the hall together.
"What was that Lisa?!" Mardi held her bruised wrist in pain."I'm sorry I'm sorry about but please I need a favor from you please". Khalisa pleaded going down on her knees.
"Oh God, what are you doing now? Get up please! What is it that you want from me so bad?" Mardiya asked trying to get her to stand up.

Today I finally achieved every student's dream which is to graduate high school. I've been looking forwards to this day and now all thanks to the Almighty, it's here. My family members couldn't make it unfortunately, only my Paternal aunt whom we call Goggo Hajja and my male cousin, whom is her son and my right hand guy, Shaheed. He's my senior with a year which means he's already in university.
My parents and siblings travelled outside the country to prepare for my elder sister's wedding and their flight which was supposed to land early morning today got scheduled so they couldn't make it.
My attention wasn't at all on the event going on, I was buried in my phone where I received an email from my dad's assistant about a project that needs to be sorted ASAP and she couldn't get through to my dad so she sent it to me instead. I was busy typing on my phone when a bright light was suddenly reflected upon me and when I realized what was happening, all eyes were on me and claps were heard all over the hall room.
I slid my phone into my pocket and got up as the spotlight was still on me and so were the cameras. I got on the stage and stood in front of the loud and large crowd and spotting my only family with large smiles made me grin and the cheers got louder. I gave my valedictorian speech with a heavy heart.
I received my certificate, award and gifts before getting off the stage and just after I sat down, our whole set were called for a graduation picture and then the event was closed after the cake cutting and closing prayers.
People began to leave while others were just snapping pictures with their friends and family members. I think I clicked more than fifty pictures with different girls that came to 'congratulate me', lol. That reminds me, I haven't seen Mardiya around since the event started so I fetched my phone to ring her but she showed up.
"Hello there! I've been looking for you" I said with a smile but her face held everything but a smile and that made me worried.
"What's wrong?" I asked her trying to get a hold of her hand but she quickly stepped back and it shocked me.
"Congratulations Aamir". She said and I nodded with a quick 'thank you'.
"Why do you look sad?" I asked. "Me? I'm okay. Actually...I just wanted to give you this and please I kept a letter for you in there" She gave me a white gift bag.
"Okay..thank you genius. What letter?" I asked making a love to open the letter but she stopped me. "Promise me that you won't read it till you get home and alone" She pleaded.
"Oh no problem then" I smiled and unboxed the gift she gave me, it was a very nice looking wristwatch which I've honestly been wanting to get. She helped me put it on and I just watched her amusingly, she's unusually quiet unlike when we met earlier.
She held my hand in hers and looked at me for long with what seemed like tears in her eyes and before I could even talk to her she had released me and ran away fast. I was about to go after her when Goggo Hajja and Shaheed appeared.
"Congrats man!" We shared a bro hug with him after shaking hands. "Thanks dude" I smiled.
"Let's get going, your parents flight is going to land in less than thirty minutes so we need to get to the airport" Goggo Hajja said and we left after I bid some of my mates goodbye.

"What did you write in that letter? Mardi please don't tell me you did stupid!" Amani scolded a quiet Mardiya.
"Answer me will you?!" She added angrily fighting the urge to hit her in the face. She's suspecting that Khalisa told her something because she's not been normal sany ideaince she came back inside the hall after going out with Khalisa.
"Fine! Fine! I broke up with my bestfriend! I don't want the relationship again. And why? Because I'm just a burden he can't get rid of because he thinks it'll break me. I should have realized that I was just his bestfriend because he was dating Khalisa and now that they're over their will be no use of us being bestfriends again" Mardiya said and Amani was just staring at her wondering what went wrong with her head.
"Oh my Goodness! Mardi, what have you gone and done! Do you have any idea what a good friend you want to loose? Or maybe you have already cause I'm sure he's read the letter by now!".
"Yes yes I know he's a good friend but apart from that, he's my sister's ex I can't just keep hanging around with him and he's graduated now anyways" She reasoned.
"What has Khalisa fed you that blocked your brain like this?! Why don't you see that she just keeps using you!?".
"Amani please enough about this talk already, I want to go home now if you don't mind" She got up, releasing her hand from Amani's grip.
"Fine go! Just know that Aamir might never forgive you for this" Amani also walked away angrily and deep down she felt the same but Khalisa's words kept ringing in her head. He will forever just be her sister's ex from now on.
