*Transition to Kakudai in his new house*
*Kakudai glanced around his home, his eyes landing on a framed photo of him and Pourina that he’d kept all this time. Picking it up, he smiled softly, but Shiroi’s words echoed in his mind: “Find another way to get stronger, Kakudai.” The reminder pulled him from his thoughts.
Setting the photo down, he moved to his table, took a seat, and grabbed a pen and paper, determined to brainstorm every possible way to improve. Minutes passed, but nothing seemed to click. Frustrated, Kakudai shoved the table over, venting his irritation, and eventually sank down in defeat.
But then his gaze drifted to the gates of his new home—and suddenly, an idea began to take shape.
* Transition to Kurai *
* After a long trek through the valley, Kurai finally reached the ancient temple of Master Kenji. With snake-like grace, he slid down a hillside and landed on the temple grounds. Smiling confidently, Kurai stepped inside and immediately noticed a seal etched on the wall. Curious, his gaze fell upon an old book nearby—a guide Master Jeromo had left behind for future sages. As he flipped through its pages, Kurai found instructions on how to break the seal.
He chuckled, recognizing that this challenge would require him to harness nature energy, a skill sages excel at. Placing his hand on the seal, he closed his eyes and began to draw in nature’s energy, focusing it steadily into his core. Slowly, the seal weakened, and, with one final surge, it shattered.
As the walls parted before him, the ground trembled beneath his feet. But once the passage fully opened, the shaking ceased, leaving Kurai to face whatever awaited him inside.
As Kurai stepped into Master Kenji’s lair, he immediately sensed that the space had been crafted with him in mind. Master Kenji had foreseen his arrival, understanding that Kurai would need a place specifically suited to develop his skills as a Living Sage Mode user. On one of the walls, Kurai noticed a note addressed to him. He read it carefully, realizing that it explained how he would need to tap into Kurama’s chakra to elevate his abilities to the next level.
The note further revealed that during the time Naruto had shared Kurama’s chakra with him, it had merged with Kurai’s own, leaving him with a vast reserve of Kurama’s power. However, his access to it was limited by the intense flow of natural energy within him, which made channeling the chakra a challenge. Master Kenji’s final words expressed pride in Kurai and encouraged him toward success.
Deeply moved, Kurai took a steadying breath. He removed his shirt, seated himself on the floor, and began to meditate, allowing the natural energy around him to flow into his body and fuse with his own energy as he prepared for the next step in his training.
* Transition back to the Village *
* A portal opened at the entrance of Zumo and Konasa’s home, and the three of them stepped through as Zumo closed it behind them. The tomoe in Zumo's Rinnegan faded as he clenched his face in frustration, muttering that he should have killed Ciruka when he had the chance. Amiri overheard and immediately shouted, "Wait, are you saying you’ve wanted to kill my cousin this whole time?! Was that the plan?"
Zumo turned to her with a fierce look and replied, “You don’t need to worry about it.” Amiri, angered, swung at him, but Zumo silenced Konasa’s attempt to intervene with a quick glance, putting her under a genjutsu. Immobilized, Amiri couldn’t move as Zumo leaned in and coldly said, “Stay out of my way.” He then walked off.
Once he was gone, Konasa broke free from the genjutsu, apologizing to Amiri for Zumo’s attitude. Amiri shrugged it off with a huff and stormed off. Konasa watched as Zumo moved to sit on the porch, lost in his own thoughts.
An hour later, as Zumo still sat outside staring at nothing in particular, Konasa came out with a glass of water. “I figured you might be thirsty,” she said, offering it. “Anything else you need?”
“No, thank you,” he replied. Konasa started to head back inside, but as she reached the door, she heard him softly call her name. Turning, she noticed that he was gazing up at the sky, the untouched water beside him. Zumo gestured for her to sit, and she hesitated before joining him.
Zumo apologized for his earlier behavior, admitting that he felt trapped under the weight of his conflicts and unresolved anger, especially toward Ciruka. “I want to make him pay for what he’s done to me and everyone I care about, but I feel… powerless. I don’t even know how to feel anymore.”
Konasa gently replied, “Life has a way of hitting us with challenges. It’s just life’s way of seeing if we’ll rise above it.” Zumo reached over, taking her hand, and sincerely apologized for how he’d treated her. They gazed at each other, and Zumo spoke about the pain he’d unintentionally caused her, making Konasa smile through happy tears. She leaned in, kissing him deeply.
As the two held each other, Konasa placed her hands on his face and teased, “Now, stop whining and stop acting so weak.” Zumo chuckled, lifted her into his arms, and carried her inside. With her legs wrapped around his waist, they made their way to the bedroom, their kisses intensifying as they finally surrendered to the moment together.
