This world was filled with people who didn't understand how precious life could be. How one thing can turn your whole world around. How something can just make everyday worth it and help you move forward. This world was filled with people who didn't understand that. That they can be happy.
Happiness wasn't even a question to the Elsen, nor was it an answer. They did not seek the pleasures of life, everyday was a work day, and every moment of silence they took for themselves was a moment that wasted their potential. Of course it's easy to say that all Elsen were like this, but the truth wasn't really known.
Elsen were silent about these things, if they were to come out about their true feelings regarding their position, then their life would be cut short. There was no room in this society for Elsen and their passions. Their only passion was taught to them and that was to survive by being the best damn worker they could be.
They were everywhere, the mines, the farm, the post office, the library and anywhere else you can think of. Even if an Elsen was not in sight, it was safe to say one was near, for without them this world would disappear.
Floors and floors of workers, working their lives away and being watched by others to make sure they stay in place. The Guardians made any chance of freedom small. Who were the Guardians? They protected the zones and kept their Elsen in line. They were much bigger than Elsen and their characteristics made them stay out even more.
Elsen feared them, because they knew if they made the smallest of mistakes, the chances of one of the Guardians disposing of them was ever so high. There were thousands of Elsen, why would they want one that made a mistake? When they can just decimate the issue and replace them with one that actually listens and does all the correct work.
Dedan, was the Guardian of Zone 01, and of course he had participated in these acts. His anger made it quite easy to, but that didn't mean he didn't try and help and work with the Elsen. He attempted many times, but at last this anger would get the best out of him.It was very easy for them to piss him off, their expressions of weakness just did something to him. It made him want to grab one of them by the neck and just see if they tried to fight back. If he was lucky then one of them would burn and it would peak his interest for a moment.
But when all was said and done he would sit in his office, alone, and just wait for one of the smaller creatures to come walking in, bringing news of something interesting coming from the zone. He didn't have much to look forward to, maybe if he was fortunate, the Queen would request to speak with him.
The Queen. A strong ruler who controlled the Zones, and the Guardians who came along with them. Every Guardian had to stay loyal to the Queen's words, it was only her and her son that they would listen to. To go against the Queen, well no-one wanted to know what would happen, and so it never happened. As high tempered Dedan was, he never took that out on the Queen or her decisions, to be honest he never even thought to question her decisions.
The thought lingered in his mind, why? Why didn't he question her? The logical reason was just because she was the Queen. Of course he had other reasons, but he wasn't ready to share that to anyone or anything. He groaned as he sat in his chair, miserable and frustrated with the silence, but that silence would be short lived.
An Elsen walked in from the doorway, clutching onto papers for dear life, he could smell the fear the smaller creature had for him. He was amused and sat up, watching them nervously move one leg after the other to get closer until he stopped.
"S-Sir," the Elsen stuttered, which was common when they attempted to speak to him. The frail looking Elsen went silent for a moment, trying to collect his thoughts before speaking further.
"Can you fucking get with it already?" Dedan glared and raised his voice at the other, annoyed with his slow response."S-sorry sir," he leaned forward apologetically, "But we're having an issue with a f-floor sir" he cleared his throat, "Floor #32342 is coming up slow with their results which is making floor #58121 slow on their shipment orders sir"
Dedan sat there in silence before shouting at the small Elsen, " And what the fuck do you want me to do about it?!"
"W-well we were hoping that maybe you can...H-help motivate the other Elsen on the floor" he swallowed, nervous about the backlash that may follow.
"Very well," the large Guardian stood from his chair. "But if I don't see the results from my 'motivation' then I'm replacing the whole damn floor."
The Elsen nodded eagerly, sweating, but still feeling a bit of relief that it went this smoothly.
