"Okay, be honest. Uh, do any of you guys understand this?" Steve asked, and Ann looked up from her piece of paper.

"Nothing at all makes sense anymore."

"No"

"it's pretty straightforward."

Ann looked at Dustin and Lucas who had spoken at the same time she had. "Can we slow down; I don't understand any of this" she asked.

"Oh, straightforward, really?" repeated Steve after Dustin, eyebrow raised in disbelief.

"Well, what's confusing to you guys?" wondered Dustin. "So far, everyone Vecna has cursed has died, except for this old Victor Creel dude Nancy found." He told the rest of the people in the room. "He's the only known survivor. If anyone knows how to beat this curse, it's him."

"Victor Creel? The dude from the stories we got told as kids?" Ann asked, looking between Dustin and Steve, who were almost bickering.

Ignoring Ann's question Steve replied to Dustin. "that's assuming he was cursed, which we don't even know, Henderson. How can vecna have existed in the 50s? It doesn't make sense."

"Far as we know, eleven didn't create the Upside Down. She opened a gate to it. The upside down has probably been around for thousands of years. Millions, even." Dustin said. "I wouldn't be surprised if it predated the dinosaurs, Steve."

"Okay, okay." Lucas exclaimed, interrupting the two. "But if a gate didn't exist in the 50s, how did Vecna get through?

"Oh, and how's he getting though now" Steve added to the endless list of questions everyone had.

"And why now?" added Lucas to the list, too.

The guys continued questioning this vecna guy, but Ann zoned out, not getting anything. She focused on max, who had been sat at the desk, writing for hours now.

"Honestly, Henderson, a little humility now and then, it wouldn't hurt you." Steve told Dustin, who looked down and apologized.

"Hey, don't say that to him. This is a weird situation, lack of humility should be the least of your concerns, Harrington." Ann said, snapping out of her trance.

The room fell silent, and everyone looked at Max.

"Has she slept?" asked Ann, looking at the redhead.

Dustin leaned forward, looking at Max, "Any idea what she's writing?"

The door to the basement opened, and down came the other two girls, holding brown folders.

Nancy looked at the people on the sofas before taking in a deep breath. "Okay so, we have a plan"

Steve opened one of the paper folders Nancy held out, and from her stool, robin spoke up. "Alright, so thanks to Nancy's newspaper minions, we are now rock-star psychology students at the university of Notre-dame."

'I'm now Ruth," Nancy started saying "and I'm Rose." Finished Robin.

"Nice GPA." Remarked Dustin.

"Thanks!" replied Nancy sweetly "So we called Pennhurst Asylum, told them we'd like to speak with Victor Creel, for a thesis we're co-writing on paranoid schizophrenics-"

"- To which they said no." finished robin for Nancy, looking at everyone.

"But we landed a three o'clock with the director." Continued Nancy

"Now all we have to do is charm him to let us talk to Victor." Explained robin, hands on her knees.

"Then maybe we can rid Max of this curse." Uttered Nancy, looking at the girl in question, who was still writing.

"Yeah uh, about that. We've been doing our homework on victor creel, and, uh" he slowly spoke.

"We got some questions. A lot." Finished Ann, looking at the two girls.

"So do we. Hopefully, Victor has the answers." Replied Nancy.

Before she could say anything else, Steve looked at the two folder and glanced at the girls "Wait. Wait... wait a second? Where's mine?"

Nancy hesitated before getting up, grabbing robin's arm, and making her way to her bedroom.

"I don't think Steve's really happy about not going." Snickered Dustin as Lucas cracked a smile.

"Me neither" said Ann, "Is he really always the babysitter?"

"Well, it just ends up being like that. It's never on purpose, I'd say." replied Dustin giggling. "He's a cool babysitter, at least."

Ann smiled at the boys and looked at max, still sat at the desk, writing.

Looking down at her shoes, Ann sighed. It'd been a couple days since she'd last seen Eddie. It was kind of weird to say, but she had gotten used to his presence around her. Whether it be driving together, just hanging out at school or talking on the phone, he had simply just become an important part of her daily life.

It took a while before the trio came back downstairs, and the moment Ann saw Robin in that pastel easter outfit, she burst out laughing with the rest of the kids who were on the sofa.

"Robin, is that really you?" asked Ann, who was holding onto her stomach. "I'm sorry Nancy, these are perfectly fine clothes, but they just do not fit with robin and her whole vibe"

Robin walked towards Ann, almost tripping over the kitten heels she was wearing and tried to jokingly hit her with her persona folder.

"You- stop making fun of me. I can pull off anything, I'll have you know. I'm the perfect preppy student from Notre-dame." Joked Robin

"Anyway. Nance and I are leaving now. We have a walkie in her car so we'll be in contact when we can."
