Coral Bleaching

I wrote this Slam Poem when I was 13 years old, and it got published in the 2019 Write 4 Fun INSPIRED book.

DISCLAIMER!!! This will be cringe!! 

Hope you like it!! 

What are the problems of the world? 

There are lots of problems, we should be concerned, 

but the one I'm choosing, is about where the fish are cruising. 

Sea creatures have already started to die, so to all of the sea animals, 

in the reefs we will be saying goodbye... if we do nothing.

If we do nothing, the coral bleaching will continue at a rapid rate.

If we do nothing and decide to wait, then it will continue spreading,

the sea with more coral bleaching, so we need to start reaching out to the animals, 

all of them, even the seagulls,

to help through this situation, that WE humans started.

You're probably wondering: what are you saying? 

We can't afford to start paying,

scientists to do research,

our countries in debt, 

we don't have the money, the situation will just have to lurch out of control,

who cares if we look like we have no soul?

So what? Animals? Dying we will let. 

But NO! That's not right! 

This is a problem,

imagine if you were dying, because all the animals didn't care, and just threw their rubbish and sprayed their sprays everywhere...

and it affected YOU?

We can find a way, we can make it so the coral and all of its inhabitants have better days, everyday. 

Coral bleaching is a problem so large, 

we've just tried to camouflage this epidemic,

like it doesn't need our attention...

but it does!

It might seem scary to fix this problem, but is this really the emblem you want the rest of the world to see?

A lazy, selfish group of people who don't clean up after themselves?

You know this is just inhumane!

We need to start feeling compassion again!

We need to TRY helping with everything we can under the sun...

We don't have couldrons with magic potions and solutions like they do in Harry Potter.

We need to get through the ignorance and confusion, to fix this problem that US humans have started, before all of our beautiful sea animals and us humans... have to be parted.

So how did this happen?

How did this start?

You're probably thinking: I didn't play a part!

But you did by not helping and spreading the word.

This situation on its own is absurd!
