(A/N): I just... really love Reo and Yukio, and I'm sad that there's no fic's for them. Also, first time I've written for this fanbase so any constructive criticism is appreciated!

The memory came up suddenly, monotone words echoing in the back of Yukio's mind, causing him to stall his movements as his grip tightened on the broom handle.
"You're too average to be a member of the Handa Force, so you should just quit."
A little over a week had passed since he discovered that letter on his desk, asking him to meet behind the school. He thought it had been a love letter, hoped it had been a love letter.
It wasn't, though. Instead, Yoriko had stood before him, a bored expression on her face, and spoke bluntly. She hadn't even said anything he didn't already know, and it was his own fault for getting his hopes up.
"Yukicchi, are you finished sweeping?"
Reo's voice didn't seem to reach the brunette's ears, his attention fully fixed out the window, watching the clouds roll slowly across the pale sky, brows knitted together thoughtfully.
"Hey, Reo, can I... ask you something?" Yukio's voice was quiet, careful, as if speaking any louder would further disrupt their vacant surroundings.
The blond responded with a small hum, taking a seat on top of his desk, "Sure, what's up?"
"Why am I part of the Handa Force?" he was blunt, yet there was the faintest nervous quiver behind his words, "I mean, I'm just run-of-the-mill, and everyone else has a lot more to offer than I do."
Reo tilted his head to the side, resting his elbow on his thigh as he placed his chin in the palm of his hand, "You want an honest answer?" he asked, watching Yukio's back straighten as his shoulders tensed up.
He only nodded in reply, still staring out the window, almost as if he was afraid to meet the blond's eyes.
"We're not really sure why," Reo admitted, a smile slipping onto his face, "It just happened."
Even with such a simple answer, there was a sincerity in his voice that wasn't typically heard. It made Yukio's stomach twist in surprise.
"But I'm ordinary..." he muttered as if it was a counter argument, eyes falling from the sky to his hands still holding tight on the broom.
Reo shrugged, "I kinda like ordinary."
Yukio blinked, slowly turning to finally look up at Reo, who was staring at him warmly, with the setting sun shining against his body.
"You, um..." the brunette tried to find his voice, to repeat the words Reo had just said, as if to confirm he hadn't imagined them. He couldn't though, eyes going wide, while his ears began to burn as the meaning behind those words finally registered.
"I kinda like you."
Yukio swallowed thickly, trying to convince himself that Reo wasn't actually in love with him, that this sort of thing would never happen to him because all he'd ever be was average, and average guys didn't get love confessions from anyone. Especially former models.
Reo was still smiling at him, taking in every little detail of the flustered brunette standing in front of him, "If you're finished sweeping, you could probably put the broom back," he grinned, unable to hide the teasing tone that slipped into his voice.
"R—right, I'll," Yukio turned around, trying to ignore how hot his face felt, "I'm gonna... just go put this away..." he spoke a little too loudly, unable to mask his nervousness. He couldn't help but wince right after he spoke.
Reo was still watching him as he moved towards the storage locker in the corner, "You know, I'm kinda hungry," he spoke casually, friendly, "We could go eat at that nearby ramen place together."
Just the two of us? Yukio felt his throat dry up at the thought. His hands were shaking as he moved to open the locker door, some part of him trying to reason that they had spent time without Aizawa and Tsutsui before, so it shouldn't feel any different now.
But it was different though. Reo had indirectly admitted that he liked him, and maybe... maybe Yukio liked him too.
"Uh, I'm not really all that hungry," he finally replied, gingerly placing the broom with the other cleaning supplies and shutting the door.
No. No, Yukio couldn't accept it. Reo was just too good for someone like him. Eventually their relationship would get boring, and Reo would run off to find someone else. Someone better.
"Aw, what?" Reo's words were drawn out, visible disappointment in his voice.
He wanted to respond with an apology, to make an excuse that he was too exhausted from cleaning duty, but before he could form a reply a familiar weight had suddenly settled over Yukio's shoulder, accompanied by the smell of citrus hitting his nose. It was a gesture he'd gotten used to, because Reo would normally have his arm draped over Yukio's shoulder, but this time felt different.
More intimate.
"Come on, Yukicchi!" he was pouting, eyes pleading.
Yukio swallowed thickly, eyes falling to the side, fearing that if he looked up at Reo, he wouldn't be able to refuse.
"It'll be my treat," Reo offered, as if the price was what was important in this whole situation.
"No, I..." Yukio couldn't help how quiet his refusal had come out, heart thudding in his ears, "I really shouldn't."
Reo would get bored. He'd find someone better.
"Well, then I'm walking you home, at least."
It was an offer to compromise. Reo still wanted to spend time with him for a little longer, even if Yukio wouldn't let him. The brunette sighed, tilting his head to look up at the blond, lips parting to form some type of reply. He couldn't say anything though, and just stared at Reo, who was still smiling at him with a carefree look in his eyes.
He really was beautiful, wasn't he?
"Sure..."
Reo grinned, pulling Yukio along by the shoulder, just like he normally did when they walked together. However, there was this understanding that wasn't there before, a silent acknowledgement that, even though they might never actually admit their feelings, they still couldn't keep the love from their eyes whenever they looked at each other.
