"Hey, Sonic, I have created a fat pill!" says Tails as he flicks his tails eagerly and holds up a small yellow and red pill as Sonic enters the room to see what Tails has been working on and to tell him that Maddie has lunch ready. "A what now?" says Sonic confused and points behind himself towards the kitchen. "I just came to tell you that Maddie just made lunch," says Sonic a bit confused. "With this pill, you will never need lunch again! Just think about it. You could run forever, Sonic," says Tails eagerly and flicks a tail and holds the small pill out to Sonic. Sonic thinks for a second and rubs his chin. "No more chili dogs ever again? No way!" says Sonic and puts his hands out resistantly. "Sonic, it's just a high calorie fat pill," says Tails reassuring and continues to hold the pill out in exhaustion. Sonic continues to turn his head away and Knuckles comes into the room to get them for lunch. "Hey, Maddie sent me in here to get you for lunch...Hey, what is that?" says Knuckles curiously pointing as he notices the pill. "Well, it is an HCP. It is a high calorie pill designed to give its user as much energy as possible at once and all...," starts Tails but never gets to finish as Knuckles grabs the pill and says, "Well, that sounds good for me," and points to himself. Knuckles swallows the pill before Sonic and Tails can protest. "What?" says Knuckles a little defensively as he opens his eyes after swallowing the pill to see Sonic's and Tail's surprised faces. "Ugh!," exclaims Tails as he runs his hand over his face. "What?"says Knuckles again as he crosses his arms and eyes Tails suspiciously. "Knuckles, that pill was designed for Sonic's speed in his metabolism. There is no telling what it will do to you!" says Tails as he puts his hand out and hovers in exasperation. "Ok, now let's all calm down," says Sonic gently as he puts a hand on Tails shoulder and lowers him to the ground. "I am sure that Tom and Maddie can find a way to figure this out. Maddie is an expert with all kinds of creatures after all," says Sonic," Maybe she will know what the pill will do to Knuckles." Sonic says this to reassure Tails. Tails breathes in deeply and looks up at Sonic's reassuring smile. "Ok, Sonic, I just hope that you are right that they can help," says Tails while wringing one of his tails with both hands and thumping the other nervously against the floor. "Hey, when am I not right?" says Sonic cockily. Tails tries to say something. "Look, Bud, I am not saying that I know everything, but I know that Maddie knows a lot more than I do. Don't tell her I said that!" whispers Sonic in one of Tails' large fox ears. Tails covers his mouth as he giggles a bit amusingly. "What is so funny?" says Knuckles suspiciously. "Nothing!" says Tails as he waves his hands in front of his face immediately. Tails and Sonic continue to laugh and hugs each other's shoulders as they enter into the kitchen. Knuckles looks confused and starts to point a finger out and asks, "Well what was so funny then?" "Come on, Knux," says Sonic, still laughing heartily as the trio of brothers enter into the kitchen. He grabs Knuckles who just lets Sonic lead him into the kitchen in a confused state. Maddie is putting the last of the paper plates onto the table, and Tom is reading the local paper. "Anything interesting happen today?" says Sonic smoothly as he slides into a seat next to Tom. Tails sits beside Sonic and smiles shyly at the scene. He had never had a warm family before, so it was sort of amusing and interesting to see their antics. Knuckles just stands back near, not far, from the head of the table and looks confused for a minute. Then he sighs and takes a deep breath and raises a hand up to ask Maddie a question.

"Hey, Maddie, what's a fat pill?" asks Knuckles in a deep breath.

Maddie looks at him with a confused smile and a brow raised, "Well, why would you ask that?"

"Well, because I swallowed one!" says Knuckles, banging the table once angrily for an answer from Maddie.

Sonic and Tails stifle laughter. Tails fails onto the table while trying to stifle his.

"He accidentally ate something Tails had made for me, but I didn't want it," says Sonic and stops laughing, "Tails said that he designed it for my speed."

"Hedgehog, let me talk about it," says Knuckles, banging the table slightly.

"Alright, everyone!" says Maddie as she sets the last plate on the table and sits down. She looks at them, "What's this pill all about?"

Knuckles grumbles and points at Tails. Tails looks a bit sheepish but explains the situation in as clear a voice as he can, " I created a high calorie food pill. I packed as many calories in it as I could for nutritional supplements, but I needed someone to test it out on."

"Which I was unwilling to do," says Sonic with his arms crossed.

"But I was...willing...," Knuckles just slowly starts realizing the situation he is in. He shakes the table slightly as he grips in panic, "What on Mobius did you give me, Fox?"

"Well, it was designed to be as nutrient dense as possible. It's probably got like a million calories in it."

"Uh, how may calories is that, Tails?" asks Sonic in worry and gets up from the table, "And you designed that thing for me?"

"Uh, yeah," says Tails with a slightly embarrassed smile, "I wasn't..."

"So, how do we get this out of him?" asks Maddie, eyeing Tails.

"What kind of side effects would it even have?" asks Tom as he puts his paper down.

"Extreme bloat probably, since it is really just a bunch of dehydrated food and vitamins," says Tails.

"That is really not something you should mess with," scolds Maddie in shock.

"I just wanted to make something to help out," says Tails, "I'm sorry." His ears and tails droop. Sonic rubs Tails's back gently, "Come on, Bud. It's not the end of the world."

"But, what if Knuckles dies from it?" sobs Tails.

"It's ok. I will help him," says Maddie and escorts Knuckles away from the table.

She lays him down upstairs. "Now, we need to slow this down so that it doesn't crowd your blood out. If you will lay here, it should digest slowly. I will check back on you in a few hours," says Maddie.

"Ok," yawns Knuckles and falls asleep.

"Will Knuckles be alright? I didn't mean to do anything to him with the pill," says Tails as he looks up at Maddie tearfully.

"He should be good," says Maddie.

"I wonder if I put a bunch of chili dogs in it, would Sonic take the pill?" says Tails cheerfully.

"Well, maybe if you lightened the load bit," says Sonic, making a pinching gesture of smallness, " I still want chili dogs."

"I will!" says Tails, flicking his tails happily.

"Just be sure I help you next time," says Maddie.

"Ok, alright!" says Tails excitedly.

2 months later, Knuckles notices Maddie making food pills.

"Oh, not those things again," says Knuckles, putting his hands in front of his face in defense against anyone shoving the pills down his throat, "The last ones keep me awake for two weeks almost. I don't want to work out without sleep again."

He remembers accidentally stubbing ties a few times out of tiredness during those two weeks.

Maddie giggles to herself.

"Are you ready?" she asks, holding a pill out as Sonic zooms over from the couch and takes it, "Oh, I'm ready for this one."

He smirks and swallows it and runs out the door.

"Is Sonic liking it?" asks Tails as he comes down with more colorful powders from another room.

"Maybe," says Maddie, smiling mischievously.

"I'm sure glad you taught me how to make food pills," says Tails, setting down the box of different colored powders he is carrying.

Sonic runs back in the door, his quills frayed and his irises smaller than usual. "This...feels...great!" he says. "Woohoo!" he shouts and runs out the door."

Tails giggles, then Maddie does as well.
