I took a deep breath as I closed my room door. Another long day of school that had completely drained me. My mom and I had moved here in Florida a few months ago. I had to leave everyone, the friends I had, my own hometown, everything. I was upset because it's not easy for me to settle in new environments. I'm an introvert with social anxiety, put the two together and you'll never hear me say a word unless you I'd known you for a while. I threw my bag on the ground, I hated school. I quickly texted Cora, my wonky " friend" I had so far. Cora and I were opposites, she was bubbly and loved socializing. The only reason we're friends was because she talked to me first. I put in my earbuds and listened to my music. I stared out the window as I listened deeply to the lyrics. I skipped the cringe love song that tried playing, I hated love. It wasn't fair how everyone could get into relationships so easily, yet here I was. I hated thinking about things I couldn't have.
.......
It was soon dark outside, I helped my mom clean up after dinner. " Alright I'm headed to bed," I said.
" Goodnight Isla, love you." My mom said hugging me.
" Love you too," I said as I closed my room door.
I realized that it had started thundering. I loved thunder storms, so I opened my window and hung out the window. That was until something caught me off guard. I saw a figure move in the corner of my eye. I slammed the window closed and went to bed. It wasn't odd, we lived between several streets, people were everywhere all the time. I just didn't feel like meeting yet another neighbor. I fell asleep to the soft rain of the thunderstorm.
