Astrid Claire
When Astrid woke, she found herself lying on the floor in the middle of a dark, wet hallway. She looked down one way. Empty. She pushed herself up. She looked the other way. Empty, too. She winced. She held her head with her hand. She had a massive headache. A searing pain, probably from being knocked out. She looked around. The hallway was long. Almost looked endless in the dark. The ceiling was leaking. She was being dripped on.
She didn't know where she was. Or what to do. She didn't have any magic. And any big movements increased her head pain. She placed her hands on the wall, using it to help her stand. There was nothing around as far as the eye could see. The walls were a dark blue, almost black. Pipes above her head, drip drip dripping. Buzz. Buzz.
Astrid flicked her head toward one direction. It was dark but she could hear buzzing. Electrical. Like an almost busted light bulb flickering on and off, fighting to stay alive. Astrid leaned up against the wall behind her, scraping her back along as she sat back down on the floor. She huddled her knees up to her chest.
Astrid felt her whole body tremble. She knew exactly who kidnapped her. But she didn't know where or why. She had zero way to contact anyone. Allison... Her eyes welled up with tears at the thought of her friends and her family. Davina. Derek. Allison. Malia. Astrid was missing and no one knew.
What was she going to do? How was she going to get out of this alive? She had no plans. No way to escape. There didn't seem to be an exit. She could hardly see. Her head ached. Whoever hit her hit her hard. Her super hearing tuned in. Hearing footsteps treed in the small puddles of water through the tunnel.
The voice echoed through the tunnel. It was Alex. 'You're awake. Sorry for the hard hit. I guess Lucas has some deep issues. Anyway...' Astrid stood. Fear rising in her chest. She had no backup. No way to defend herself. There wasn't a whole lot for her to do. Except run. Alex was walking down the hall toward her destination. Astrid took off in the other direction.
She began walking slowly down the hall. But as she kept walking, the pain from her head increased. She yelped, 'ah!' Placing one hand on the wall and the other on her head. Alex's voice met her ears. She looked back. She couldn't really see him. But she could hear him behind her. She kept walking. Fighting through the pain.
'You know, Lucas is my most devoted acolyte. He was the first witch I turned. It wasn't exactly at the top of my list of things to do when I woke but it was his choice. From then on, he has always been by my side. The others say he loves me.' He paused speaking, but kept walking. 'Eh. I could do worse. Well, you know us Claire's. The oldest twin, the gay twin.' He chuckled.
Astrid had both hands on the wall now, using it as a guide. The buzzing she was hearing before was getting louder. And there it was. The almost busted light bulb that was making the buzzing noise. She stopped just under it, leaning her head against the wall. Taking a quick breather. Her head. It was... hurting. But it was more than just a hit. It was... something. Something... magical, possibly.
'I didn't really wanna turn Lucas, but he insisted. Apparently we had the same childhood. The disgrace. The unwanted. The unloved. Anyway... After I turned Lucas, I thought he would leave. I just wanted to get back to my life. Who knew I had lost, pft... seventy-seven years of my life.' Astrid's eyes widened. Shocked, yet also confused. What was he talking about?
'Stupid family.' He muttered. 'Whatever. I was having the time of my life - partying, girls... drinking. Well, Lucas shows up out of nowhere. Scared me half to death. He would not leave me alone. No matter how many times I would tell him. Eventually, I figured... he was sired to me. It was the best thing. He would do anything I told him to do. Except leave. Weird, right?'
