Davina Claire
Davina was worried all day. Her sister never showed up last night. She didn't arrive at school. Her phone was on her bed. No one has seen her since last night. And by the sound of it, Allison was not in trouble last night. So, what the hell happened to her sister?
Davina and Astrid had always had each other's backs since birth. When their father left, they were upset. Even though they didn't know him. It was hard knowing their father didn't want to be a part of their lives. But they were there for each other. They never needed anyone else.
Astrid had always felt interior to Davina because she had magic and Astrid didn't. But Davina never allowed her sister to feel like that. She always allowed her sister to siphon magic from her. They'd spend their nights working on spells.
When Astrid was caught in the fire and was paralysed, Davina almost never left her side. She did everything she could to cheer her up. She helped their mother take care of her. She performed spells that made her smile. They'd almost be glued side by side like siamese twins. Astrid was Davina's best friend.
When Astrid left school to join Saint Carter's Science and Technology, Davina was devastated. Astrid was her only friend. Her and Josh. But her sister never let her down. Whenever she could, she could drive to her old high school and sit with Davina. They have never let each other down. And Davina didn't plan on starting now.
She'd been keeping in contact with Stiles while he and Scott went to the police station to talk with Stiles' dad, Noah Stilinski, the Sheriff, to see if anything came up. Lucky for that. They located Astrid's car. She took it last night. Hopefully that could give Davina some answers. She really missed her sister and hoped she was okay.
Davina grabbed her car keys and headed out of the loft. When she headed to her car, she noticed Malia standing there with her arms folded, leaning up against her car. She stopped in her tracks. She didn't know why she was at her house. She knew that she was her sister and she knew she knew, too. But she hadn't talked to her since.
'I heard what Stiles found. Need a friend?'
She hadn't spent any time with Malia yet. She wanted to find her sister. But a little backup and some quality sister time while trying to locate their other sister would be a good thing. She smiled and nodded. Davina clicked her car key unlocking the car. They both hopped in. Davina started her car and drove off.
Astrid's car was located outside of the Beacon Hills Preserve. Why? Davina didn't know. Maybe if she could find her sister, she'd ask.
Malia sniffed. 'The scent's strong of emotion.'
'What emotion? Fear?'
Malia shook her head. 'Anger.'
'That does sound like Astrid.'
Malia bent down and looked under the car. Davina looked around. She tried opening the car door but it was locked. When Malia got back up, she dangled Astrid's keys on her finger. She clicked it. The car beeped and the doors opened. Davina got into the driver side, Malia in the passenger side. They looked around the car - under the seats, in the back, in the glove box. Nothing. Not a single piece of evidence stating where she could be. Davina was beginning to lose hope. She didn't want to give up. But there was no lead. Nothing that would help to find her sister.
'Why would she even be out here?' Malia asked while still searching.
'I have no clue.' Davina brushed hair out of her face.
'Can you tell me exactly what happened when Astrid left last night.'
She sighed. 'She came home last night maybe around seven-ish with our best friend from New Orleans, Josh. Then, she went upstairs to her room for maybe about ten, fifteen minutes. Next minute she's running downstairs in a hurry saying that Allison was in trouble. She even left her phone at home.'
'Wow.' Malia turned to face the front, staring out the front windshield letting out a breath of air. 'But, I talked to Allison, she said she didn't call her.'
'Yeah. She said the same thing to me but... but I- I checked Astrid's recent call history. Allison did call her last night a few minutes before Astrid left the loft. So, either Allison forgot she called her or-'
'It was a trap.' She looked at Davina.
'Alex must've compelled Allison to call Astrid in a panic so she'd come rushing out.'
'And he kidnapped her. But where would he take her?'
'That's what we need to find out.'
Davina and Malia got out of Astrid's car and back into Davina's car where they drove to the sheriff's station. They parked beside Stiles' Jeep and headed into the sheriff's station. They made their way to the front counter where they asked Deputy Parrish for Sheriff Stilinski. He pointed to the office right behind them but he mentioned he was in a meeting with Stiles and Scott. The two girls walked into the room.
'Dad, we gotta find her.' Stiles said to his father. 'She could be in serious trouble.'
'Don't you think I know that?' Noah rubbed his forehead. 'I don't even know where to begin looking.'
'I might be able to help.' Davina said. Noah looked at her, Scott and Stiles turned around. 'We know who took her. I think I can use something that belongs to Astrid as a connection... for a locator spell.'
'Could that really work?' Asked Scott.
'Maybe. I- I mean, it is worth a try.'
'Let's.'
Davina, Malia, Scott and Stiles headed out of the sheriff's station. Scott and Stiles hopped into Stiles' jeep and Malia and Davina in Davina's car. With Stiles following behind Davina, they drove to the loft. The others waited downstairs while Davina rushed upstairs to Astrid's room. She searched around, trying to find something meaningful to Astrid. Then she found it. Sitting on her desk was her little brown book. The same book her mother gave her when she was paralysed. Said if she ever began to feel anything, write. And she did. She always kept that book close to her. Especially after their mother died.
Davina walked back down stairs. 'Found it!' She said, waving the little brown book in the air.
'A book?' Malia questioned. 'How is that going to give you the connection to Astrid we need to find her?'
'Trust me. If anything is more personal to Astrid, it's this.' She moved off to the couch, sat down and put the book down. 'Okay, I need someone to grab me a candle and a map from that back closet.' She pointed to the closest behind her in the back.
Stiles went, coming back with a candle and a map, placing both on the table in front of Davina. Davina grabbed the map, put the book on top of it then raised her hand and lit the candle with her mind.
'Are we sure this is gonna work?' Scott asked.
'It has to.' She looked down at the map and book. 'Because I don't have a plan b.'
She took a deep breath in, placing both hands on her sister's book. She closed her eyes, mumbled the spell to herself and thought only of her sister the entire time. Ce che vous, pro la busque. She repeated that a couple of times. A couple of images flooded her mind. They were of Astrid. Sitting in a dark tunnel. There wasn't much to see. But she could feel her emotions. Fear. Anger. Sadness. Missing her sister. Her cousin. Allison. Her friends. Davina felt the saltiness of a tear hit her lip.
But then she saw it. Words. Coup de foudre. She gasped and opened her eyes, removed her hands from the book. Her eyes dazed around the room as her mind thought back to the images she just saw.
'What? What is it? Did you see Astrid?' Malia asked.
She stared at the floor. 'What's coup de foudre?' She barely heard the words herself.
'What is that? Spanish?' Stiles asked, glancing around.
'It's French.' Scott answered. Davina looked at him. 'And I think I might know where she is.'
