Davina Claire
Davina stayed by the gravestone a few minutes after everyone else had left. She crouched by the gravestone. She held onto the corner, thinking of Astrid. I miss you. She cried once more as Derek came to her side. He brought her into a hug and she cried. He lifted her up and the two of them, plus Peter, walked back to the car. Derek sat in the driver seat, Peter sat in the passenger seat and Davina in the back. Staring out the window watching the days go by.
Davina walked upstairs to her bedroom, letting down her hair. On her way, she found herself walking too far, toward Astrid's room. She hadn't even realised. She stood by the door, staring into her bedroom. No one had packed anything up. No one had the courage.
Davina walked into Astrid's bedroom, sitting on her bed and clutching her pillow. She glanced around her room. She sighed. Then she got up off her bed and walked over to her desk. She sat in the chair, stared blankly at the wall. She looked down at the desk. On top was her laptop, her favourite little brown book her mother gave her, her pens and pencils and school books.
She bent down and went through her drawers. The top drawer was filled with makeup supplies. All her brushes, her blush, her lipstick. She didn't even know why Astrid had so much. Sometimes she would barely wear any, sometimes none at all. The second drawer was filled with utter junk. Scrap pieces of paper. Artsy crafty stuff that Astrid liked to do. Then she moved to the final drawer. It had one thick large spell book. She grabbed it.
It was kind of heavy. She slammed it down on the desk. The book had many many pages and lots of sticky notes sticking out the sides. She flicked through the pages. This spell book wasn't an ordinary spell book. It had the rarest, special, most powerful spells. But that wasn't all. It had information. Information about certain witch covens. And witches.
Davina opened the book to one of the sticky notes. It was labelled SIPHON WITCHES. Some of the sections were highlighted. She skimmed through it. It mentioned a fair bit about heretics.
A siphon witch isn't a full witch. This is called 'one of nature's loopholes.' Because of this unfortunate mishap, a siphon witch is able to also be a vampire and still keep their witch powers. It fills a part of them and makes them whole...
She continued reading. She got up to a part Astrid had highlighted.
It is possible for a siphon witch that is born into a family of wolves for them to gain the aspects of a wolf without actually being a wolf. They can heal, run faster, hear things they shouldn't be able to hear...
That explained it. It explained why Astrid wasn't paralysed forever like the doctors expected or like it would have been for a normal human. Because she had super healing abilities. What else was there?
Davina flicked through more pages. It involved power linking and unlinking spells. A very powerful but very dangerous type of magic called expression magic. Apparently it was a very toxic magic.
Ancestral Plane spells? She could travel to the other side. Or drop the veil. It would mean all dead super naturals could cross to the real world and it was temporary but it meant she could see her sister.
She went through other pages. Curses. Hexes. Possession spells. Power manipulation. Projection. Elemental. Transference. Immortality. Resurrection.
Davina sat up straight as she read one of the resurrection spells in particular.
A powerful spell used to resurrect a spirit from the Ancestral Plane using the collective power of the Ancestors.
