"Karina," Eleanor said, "I think Kiana's sending us messages from World Serpent's Base."

There was silence, as there always was whenever something regarding Kiana would happen. Usually, Karina was quick to respond, but anything that had to do with her put Karina to a stop ever since her betrayal. This was...an odd occurrence, to say the least.

Kiana? Sending messages? This was new. Probably because there was almost not one occasion where the two were separated, that either Kiana or Karina had to communicate through messages. Well, until this happened, though.

She was worried that this was a trick, a trick that someone from World Serpent was using to spy on Schicksal. But the more Karina inspected the handwriting, the more she started to believe Eleanor's unexpected conclusion.

Word from word, the spelling, the grammar, even the punctuation. The actual style of writing was one thing--but it was all too accurate. Even the smallest details Kiana would use in her writing would be hard for someone to copy. And Karina knew what those details were.

She glanced to the clear marble-floor, then back at Eleanor. The paper crinkling beneath her hand as she gripped it, finally making her own conclusion with a sigh.

"I think...I think you're right, Miss Doyle. She is sending us messages from there."

"But, don't you think it's strange?"

"What's strange?" Karina asked hesitantly.

"That she's making time to do this."

A wave of confusion came over Karina, a confused head-tilt coming from her.

"Ah--sorry. Let me explain. When I was working for Kevin before, I was always on my feet 24/7. There was not a single day we would rest. Not only for me, but for all of us. Raven, Jackal, etcetera. And even if we did, Kevin was there, monitoring our every move. We were being watched every day every hour, and every minute."

Karina felt goosebumps run over her body when she heard that. Disturbing indeed it was. She already knew World Serpent was a messed up organization, but coming from someone who has broken away from that harsh environment, it seemed as if she has had a glimpse into the nightmare of Eleanor's hellish past, one of which she explained in a concerningly calm manner. As if she's relived that moment over and over again.
