Once we had gotten back to the Salvatore Boarding house, I ran up to change my clothes. Peeling off the dried blood that was sticking to my clothes from the glass that had cut my body in numerous places. None of them had cut me to any extremes, yet Damon had asked me plenty if I was alright. I was a little put off that Damon had gone to Rose's rescue instead of me but I told myself it was because I wouldn't burn in the sun and it's not like the little glass shards would kill me. Fixing up my hair, I prepared to leave for my shift at the tattoo shop.
"Where are you going?" Damon asked, demanding me to answer.
"Work?" I scoffed, almost daring him to try and stop me. "I'm sorry but I don't have fancy vampire powers to get me whatever I want in life."
"What's up with you?" He asked, his eyes somewhat growing softer.
"Nothing. I'm just a little shaken is all" I lied, quickly opening the front door and closing it behind me. ****
Once I had gotten back home after my shift I had met Elena at the front door. "Hey, what are you doing here?" I asked curiously opening the door.
"I needed to talk to Rose" she answered following in after me. I turned to the footsteps I heard to the left, seeing Rose walking over in my red satin robe.
"What the hell?" I asked, more so to myself. "Where is Damon?"
"I'm the only one here" she replied, looking behind me at Elena. "You needed to speak to me?" I glared at Rose, shoving past her to walk up the stairs pulling my phone out.
Where are you and why is Rose in my bathrobe?
"I should probably get dressed" I heard Rose say, following after me. Before she could catch up, I slammed the bedroom door shut and locking it in good measure. She had to of been in our room. How else would she have gotten my bathrobe? I was furious. Did Damon allow her in our room that we shared and if so, why? Who gave her the right to use my things? There was a knock on my door, and I spun around.
"Leave me alone!" I called. Whoever it was could suck my ass. I needed to think. A few hours of sitting on the edge of my bed I decided it was best to unlock and open the door. If Damon came home, he would immediately come see me. At least I thought he would. I opened the door, my robe falling on my feet. Rose must have left it on the doorknob. I picked it up, throwing it on the bed before quietly making my way downstairs. I heard Bonnie which was unusual. she wasn't someone I would've expected to be here.
"I might be able to lower the tomb spell long enough for you to get in and grab the moonstone" Bonnie had said.
"How? It took both you and your grams last time and look what happened to her?" Jeremy's voice also caught my attention.
"I'm well aware of what happened. I've learned a few new things" Bonnie replied. "How will you get it?"
"She hasn't been feeding. She's weaker, we're not" Stefan replied.
"You wouldn't be underestimating her, would you?" Bonne questioned. I had made it to the bottom by now, hiding behind the wall so I could listen in.
"It's a plan." There's the voice I've been waiting for. "Is it perfect? What plan is."
"Let me do it. I've got my ring. I could get in, get out" Jeremy cut in. "No spells necessary."
"Gee, thanks you sixteen-year-old child" Damon scoffed. Why didn't we think about that. Why are you even here?"
"How about this" I stepped in. "I'll go in and get it."
"Nope" Damon denied.
"Yes" I glared. "Place a protection spell on me, Bonnie won't have to harness as much power to open the tomb for you two idiots. Send me in with a vervain grenade and a stake. I'll be fine." Stefan and Damon looked at each other, Jeremy giving me a small smile.
"I like her plan" Jeremy chimed in, Bonnie shrugging.
"It could work" Stefan said hesitantly.
"Maybe I can do something to strengthen the plan" Bonnie said. "Do you have anything of Katherine's?" Stefan nodding, disappearing only for a few minutes before coming back with a picture of her made out of metal.
"I found this in her things after I thought she was dead. It belonged to her" Stefan said, handing it to Bonnie. She placed it in the bowl, sprinkling some water over it, causing it to ignite into flames. She began chanting over it, stopping after a few seconds.
"What will this do?" Damon asked skeptically.
"I can turn the metal into ash. Blow it in her face and it will incapacate her for a minute or two. Long enough for you to get the stone and get out" she finished looking at me. Bonnie's nose began to bleed, and she wiped at it.
"I'm still not okay with you going in" Damon turned to me.
"Damon look at her" I pointed to Bonnie. "She has a nosebleed just from doing this spell she's doing too much. She won't survive opening the tomb on her own."
"Fine" he growled. "You're too damn stubborn for your own good anyway." ***
"We've got the torches. Alaric's stake gun is in my trunk" Stefan said coming from inside where Bonnie was putting the ashes in a plastic baggie and handing it to me. "Are you ready?"
"I'm ready" I answered, following after Stefan and Damon. We arrived to the tomb shortly after and I climbed out of the car and to the tomb. Katherine met me at the entrance her eyebrows raising slightly.
"You" she breathed in deeply. "What a surprise. I didn't think Damon would let you get this close."
"It's not like he had a choice in the matter" I rolled my eyes, stopping right at the entrance. I could reach her, but she couldn't touch me. "I'm here for the moonstone."
"Yeah, yeah the moonstone" her voice croaked from the lack of food. "It's very popular today."
"How about I give you something you clearly desperately need" I told her, gaining her attention. I moved my blonde hair out of the way, exposing my neck. Her eyes turned red, and her fangs grew just from the thought. "You want to find out why Damon picked me?" She vamp sped as close as she could get, hitting the invisible barrier, snarling from hunger. " I don't see the moonstone" I clicked my tongue.
"You're a devious little thing aren't you" She chuckled, forcing her bloodlust down. She disappeared into the tomb, coming back seconds later with the moonstone. She held it out, showing me, she had it. I held my hand out, waiting for her to throw it over the barrier. "Not until you give me what you promised."
"I was afraid you'd say that" I giggled slightly. I pushed my hands into my pocket, grabbing the ash. I pulled my hand back out keeping it clenched as went through the barrier. She smiled, coming for my wrist. Right as she was about to bite into my wrist, I flung the ash up and right into her face. As she fell, her head hit the barrier, her fangs slightly nipping the pale skin of my under arm. I hissed but immediately jumped into action searching for the moonstone that had fallen from her hand as she went unconscious. I moved through the dirt and rocks searching for the opal like rock. My hand touched something smooth, and I picked it up. I sighed slightly turning to look at the unconscious brunette before walking back out of the dim tomb. "Jokes on you Katherine. I didn't promise anything." I walked up the stone steps, meeting Stefan at the top. I handed him the moonstone and looked around for Damon. "Where's Damon?"
"I don't know. He said something about Rose and left" Stefan replied, watching my face for a reaction. I clenched my hand behind my back and nodded.
"Take me home please" I whispered.
"Of course," Stefan replied, leading me back to his red Porche. I climbed in the passenger seat. I was silent the whole way home and once we got there, I went straight to the room. I could've been in danger, and he went to Rose. I didn't care if I was the one who put myself in danger, he should've been there for me. Whether I was in trouble or not. I sighed, looking at the cut on my arm from Katherine's fang. I succeeded. That's all that matters. No one was harmed. No one died. I kept repeating to myself that was all that mattered. I didn't know what was going on with Rose and Damon and we hadn't even had a chance to talk about it. So, for now, I should just be happy that things didn't go to hell today because who knew what tomorrow would bring. ***
