Sonic Dimensions (ON HIATUS)

Chapter 11

A loud CRASH shook the building, and all people inside rose to attention. Serena stood and tried to grab at Miles' hammer, but he was already prepared.
"They're here." Serena nodded and promptly disappeared into the air, invisible. Miles lead the group in the room out to the hallway. Lancelot, Sonic and Shadow emerged from their room and followed them. Shadow approached the fox.
"What's happening, kid?" he asked.
"I think they've arrived." the fox responded.
"Where's Serena?"
"Invisible." he responded again. The black hedgehog nodded.

The group reached the entrance, which had been exploded in. Outside hovered two figures: a jackal in a mask and a hedgehog who looked similar to Shadow. They were holding hands.
"Hm." the jackal hummed, looking across the group, "You say you found the flames, but I see nothing of interest here." The hedgehog surveyed his options, then his reptilian eyes fell upon Terra.
"There." He pointed toward the pigeon, making the other rogues step in front of them defensively, "The flames are within the bird. The small one."

"Perfect, this should be easy." The two looked at each other dotingly, and the rogues prepared to attack. Miles gripped onto his hammer, Serena was... still nowhere to be seen, and Shadow adjusted his inhibitor rings. This wasn't the fight that they were preparing for, but it was a fight nonetheless. However before they could attack, Silver leapt in front of them all, blocking them from any coming attack. Mephiles furrowed his eyes, the hedgehog seeming all too familiar...
"If you want to hurt them," he spoke, "you'll have to get through me first!" This made Mephiles and Infinite laugh, however Silver's growing anger made Infinite interested.
"Oh, you're serious?" he asked, Silver beginning to hover to their height, "Alright then, babe, let's take him on."

The three dashed into each other as the fight commenced. Silver used a psychic knife attack to blow the two back, but Infinite only appeared behind Silver, catching him off guard. The world around them became flooded in red, Silver's eyes darting around as he only heard Infinite's laughter.

"You're afraid, and yet you're still so eager to fight," his voice floated smoothly through his ears. Silver tried to move, but it was impossible. "It's so... pathetic." He felt a sharp pain in his back which forced him forward with a yelp. Now he could move, he turned to see a clone of Blaze standing behind him, flames in her hands. Her neck was still bleeding, so was her heart. Her eyes were pure white.
"You have let me down, Silver," she managed a hoarse whisper, causing Silver's blood to run cold, "You let everyone down with your insolent little mistakes. You failed to protect the Sol emeralds. You failed to protect me."
"B-Blaze no! I—" he reached out to touch her, but he received a blow to the back of the head instead as the world returned to normal and he was kicked to the ground, landing hard. He thought that was it... but as he looked up he saw Infinite being tackled down by a blue blur. Sonic.
"Heh, thanks bud..." he muttered to himself.

Infinite was now struggling under Sonic's weight, however it was only momentary, as the hedgehog was pulled into the air by his scruff. Mephiles had a tight grip on him.
"Someone as weak as you has no privilege even laying their fingertips on my ultimate mercenary," the hedgehog of darkness growled. Sonic managed a smirk.
"Aww, how sweet. You two in love?"
"Yes we are, and it only makes us stronger, you fool."

The world went red for Sonic as well, and Infinite appeared behind Mephiles, resting his arms and head against his shoulder.
"Much stronger than my phantom ruby gets me. You'd only wish to have our power."
Mephiles let go of Sonic's scruff, however he remained in the air as Infinite floated over to him, pacing around him. "In this little reality of ours, I can analyse your weaknesses, your emotions, your motives." He smirked underneath his mask. "I see your love too. But it's only hindering you." Sonic suddenly felt a falling sensation, looking down and seeing how fast he were approaching the ground. He shut his eyes, bracing for the impact, however he landed in someone's arms. He opened his eyes and saw a clone of Shadow looking at him with a sinister smile.
