The New Video Game Part 1

I speed up with each loud boom and flash of light. Why do I work so far away from home when I don't own a car or any other form of transport. Okay focus your breathing Ravvetta it won't do any good to have a panic attack in the middle of the rain when you are so close to getting home. I pull my jacket closer to my body and clutch my amulet remembering that Meloras is only a message away. I am suddenly drenched when a car going too fast goes through a puddle in the street. I shiver but continue on knowing that Meloras will have a warm latte waiting for me. I jump and start sprinting when I hear another far too loud boom with a flash that is way too close for comfort. I sigh and smile when I see the familiar sign The Dragon Heart Café. I Smile even wider hearing the familiar game start up sound signaling a person has entered the café. I look around noticing even with the weather like this there are still so many people either shopping for that new game that just came out or getting a nice warm coffee. I jump when I feel someone's arms wrap around my waist then smile when I realize who it is.

    "Raven, you're completely soaked! Head to the apartment and when I'm done with two of my customers' orders I'll close up and bring you your favorite latte. Okay?" I hear my long time best friend rush out into my back and smile at the nickname that has basically replaced my name at this point. I turn around still in Meloras' embrace, and nod my head silently conveying my thanks.

    I head behind the counter to the stairs that lead up to our shared apartment. Once I reach the top of the stairs I unlock the door then quickly head to my room so I can take a nice hot shower and get out of my soaked work clothes. I guess it's a good thing tomorrow is the start of my weekend so I can clean my clothes.

     When I get out of my steaming bathroom with a towel around my body I can smell my latte and hear calming music. I quickly put on my favorite leggings and tank top and put my long hair up into a messy bun. Before I leave my room I decide to take my Ball Python, Kaa out into the living room with me.

    I smile when I see Meloras exit our kitchen holding my favorite mug that looks like a game controller. "So how was work today Raven?" I take my mug from her as I ponder how to answer her.

    "It was alright. I finished all of the carpentry and blacksmith work in the first half of my shift then just did security guard work around. So I guess it was nice not having to multitask today especially since I was the only one who could come into work today."

    "So you got to do all three of your jobs for the same shop in one day. I still can't believe that you somehow found a single shop that allows you to do all of the jobs you wanted to do in one day." She laughs thinking of something, " I guess it's a good thing since if they didn't hire you for all three you would have gone to different shops until you could work all of them."

    I laugh with her, "well, I want those jobs so by the moon and stars I am going to get them." I take a drink of my latte. "Oh yeah, before I forget to ask if you have any new games in stock. I've already completed the game you gave me last week."

    She thinks about my question while she starts to play with a just now waking Kaa. "While I don't have any new official games, I just finished my new game and before I can go through the process of making it so I can sell it, I need a tester to make sure my AI works and that there are no noticeable bugs. So would you like to be my tester?" She looks at me with hopeful eyes and when I don't answer right away I hear the familiar tapping of her hooves tapping against the hardwood floors.

     I take my now nervous faun friend over to the couch so I can ask my usual questions. "Before I can agree or disagree, you know I must ask a few questions. What is the game about? What does it play on? And finally what do I need to know about the character customization?"
