I stayed on the ground, staring blankly at Cole. My mind was in shock and I didn't know how to react. I had forgotten we were outside, and I quickly glanced around before looking up back at him. His eyes were fixed forward at the ground. He looked me in the eyes for the first time in that moment. He glanced at his hands, then back at me, heavily breathing, and the look of terror in his eyes. He almost looked ashamed, angry at himself. " Are.....Are you okay?" He asked, worriedly. He put his hand out but quickly tucked it away, forgetting that he couldn't help me up. I slowly got up myself, not taking my eyes off of him.
" What was that?" Was all I could ask, " Your hand went through mine. Like, I can't even explain it," I shivered.
He gulped as he took a deep breath, his breath could be seen, even though it wasn't cold out.
He rubbed the back of his neck, " I.... Uh..."
" Don't even say I was imagining it either, I know what I saw, I know what I felt. You're freezing." I said before he could come up with an excuse.
His hand was so, so cold. Almost as if I had clutched ice with my bare hands.
" I don't know how to tell you?" He said confused.
" What do you mean? It's obvious. How did your hand go through mine?" I asked, now staring at him intensely.
He looked at the ground, then stared into my eyes.
" Isla.... I'm not alive..... I've been dead... for 3 years now."
